Omega General Help / Re: N/S exhaust manifold gasket (2.5 V6)

What make was the gasket you ended up using?
Was it the later multi-layer type with no EGR ports?

esso synergy is ethanol free and 99 ron too so no issues there.im using it now in all mine.
Are there still Esso stations about?  Can't say I've seen one in ages.
Yes they're still around. The footprint of a fuel station is usually worth a lot more to the franchisee as a building site then it is as a business, so we lose more and more every year.

Omega General Help / Re: Could this be the end of my Omega?
« on: 23 July 2021, 12:28:02 »
Incidentally, what oil do you use?

5w30 tends to find all the gaps, where as 10w40 tends to stay where it's put... marginally thicker oil might help mitigate the leak in the short term. :-\

Certainly not worth scrapping over a nuts and bolts job :y
Beat me to it.

Omega General Help / Re: R25/R28 gearbox ratios
« on: 14 July 2021, 13:16:27 »
R25-R28 is a gearbox type or family as opposed to a specific designation. The "GK" at the start of the serial is the specific designation and tells us this box is an R25 intended for a Y26SE since it was manufactured in March 2002.

The ratios are:
1st 3.95:1
2nd 2.19:1
3rd 1.39:1
4th 1.00:1
5th 0.85:1
Reverse 3.53:1
Differential 3.90:1

I suggest that you leave the idler arm alone unless it's actually causing an issue. A new genuine arm is scarcer than a Unicorn. Next best is an old stock Lemförder, they're only rocking horse s**t. Even from the USA for a Catera.

This is what to expect from the available new aftermarket arms.

Best thing to do would be to buy a Lemförder 11602 03 bush and ask WIM to re-bush your existing arm if there's a problem.

Omega General Help / Re: Misfire code 0300
« on: 08 July 2021, 14:13:22 »
I have done the pedal trick and the codes are 1650, 0650, 0460 and 0330.
P0330 as per above or is it P0300 as per the title of your post?
How long has the car been standing unused? How much is in the tank?
If the plug wells are dry then perhaps the fuel has gone off.
