Omega General Help / Could misfire be a fuel issue?

Just wondered if a misfire on my 3.0 pfl could be fuel related.

Have changed coil pack (new Bosch) - thinking of changing plugs and HT leads but before I go to the time and expense just wondered if it could be fuel filter or something related.

The six stack changer CD on my pfl MV6 seems to jump a lot on some CDs.

Plus it sometimes bypasses some CDs in the cassette - going from CD 2 to CD 4 without warning.

Is there any particular reason for this ?

I did thnk of a CD cleaner to try and I do have a spare Blaupunkt unit I can try (it's I paired with the same head unit in the car) - didn't want to swop over CD player if it's just dirty heads??

My pfl has started with heavy steering - I've noticed a bit of dampness around the reservoir ?

What could this be ? - the level looks OK

General Car Chat / Bulbs on climate control changed

At last got round to sorting blown bulbs in climate control panel on my pfl MV6

Got some proper stereo removal jets on eBay for £1.39. Radio came out ok. Got all the panel stripped of all ancillaries and swapped bulbs ( all 5 ). Thankfully all put back together and everything works - yippee - I can see the fan speed and temps !   

Not a job for the faint hearted

Haven't got any of the proper levers - but tried removing the head unit today to get to the bulbs in the back of the climate control. I used some small screwdrivers to wiggle the spring tabs back and tried pulling at the same but to no avail - tight blighter!!   

Any pointers - or best get a set of proper removing levers?

Got a 3.0 MV6 - Tried to check spark plugs on the passenger side bank today - couldn't even reach in to get the plug leads off .

How ?? - seem to a lot of wiring etc in the way

Omega General Help / Fluctuating temp gauge

 My 3.0 MV6 temp gauge seems to fluctuate quite a bit. My other MV6 was static once warmed up at just below 95.

This one seems to drift around up to 100 then drops back down to 90(ish).

If you are following traffic it increases as I assume no draft is been pushed into the radiator

Thinking airlock or dodgy thermostat ( where is it by the way on the V6)

Any other pointers ?

Omega General Help / Heated seats not working

The leather seats in my MV6 don't warm up. The wiring/fuse must be ok as I replaced the cloth seats which did warm up.

I assume the heat pads are at fault on the leather set. Can these  be obtained ? I would think I would have to remove the seats to get at them.

Any pointers?

Omega General Help / 3.0MV6 - missing on acceleration

My 3.0  MV6 is running a little rough. It's  seems to fine when opened up but  still hiccups.

In fairness it's only got back on road since January '14 so has been stood a while.

I've just replaced the coil pack so I know that's ok ( Bosch unit). I've put £35 of super unleaded in it as did have a little fuel left in which may have been contaminated.

Thinking change fuel filter and may as well change air filter.

The plug leads all seemed ok when I checked them when doing the coil pack - but one could be fractured. The plugs I haven't checked although I notice a couple of tubes have a little oil in them.

Whether it's connected but the coolant level has risen and car runs around 100 which compared to my other one is a touch worrying as it was always only around 90/95 - possible airlock?

Any pointers guys ?

 My 99 V plate Mig MV6 has decided to be temperamental on the central locking. Basically the drivers button doesn't go down necessitating me having to lock that door with the key

Any suggestions anyone

Omega General Help / Two pre facelift MV6 - quite different performances

I'm fortunate (or not) to have two MV6s on a V plate - having just acquired another one last week.

I have just changed the coil pack on the more recent acquisition and drove it earlier today on a test drive and have just been out in the other one.

They seem to be quite different in acceleration/power - my existing car being the better of the two.

Mileages are 96k on the newer acquisition and 79k my existing car.

Any fundamental reasons why - I suppose there could be lots of reasons but any obvious things to check?

Omega General Help / About to start coil pack change on 3.0 MV6

Just about to make a start on swapping coil pack over on my 3.0 MV6.

Symptoms are systematic with a faulty one - misfire, no management light, no oil in water (or vice versa).

First thing I realise I need us a set of Tork sockets, got the the "male" version but not these ones.

I've read the forum "how to" but just wondered if anyone has any particular dos and dont's before I make a start - once I get back from Halfords with my sockets

Just wondered if anyone knows what the option list was available on the pre facelift MV6?

Colours, sat nav, cruise, stereo style(varied options I would have thought), leather. Was the Auto standard and therefore was a manual gearbox the option ?

Can't think of anything else......
