General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 04 February 2024, 17:55:35 »
MrsGK has decided to acquire a muscular 20-something year old Japanese chap who bizarrely goes by the name Hank and is proud of his Bighorn.

Luckily for me, Hank is an Isuzu, that we would call a Trooper.

Unhappily for me the rear wheel arch was made of rust and hope. Oh, and repair panels don't exist. Luckily guru Addy, also of this parish, has imbued me with the skills to use the hot glue gun and make it back into something car shaped. Not the prettiest welding that the world's ever seen, because I'm not the prettiest welder.

But now it's solid, safe, and even the pajnt match has turned out very well indeed.

MrsGK did the filling and painting, naturally.

Now that's done it's time to pick the next hideous car to try to work on...!

Merry Xmas all!

Highlight of the day has to be accidentally getting bro in law to shout, and I apologise for this, the phrase "bollock porridge" while in a lounge full of various relatives, most of whom are from the higher echelons of society than I. MrsGK and I found it hilarious. My mother... Less impressed.

Citric acid. Solves anything.

Actually probably best look that up first. Just in case.

Clearing out the house continues. Got a four foot stack of old VW magazines that I inherited somewhere and have never opened most of them. Performance VW, Ultra VW, Volkszone, Camper/ Commercial.

They'll be off to the tip if not collected by someone so if anyone knows anyone then shout up...

General Discussion Area / Re: Kraft Beers ?
« on: 14 December 2023, 11:54:26 »
Aldi have some nice beers in. I generally don't give a toss about kraftwerk but their Coffee Stout and their Caramel Biscuit beer are very very nice.

Also their Biere Special, big opaque black bottle. Lush.

As title - anyone needs them, give me a shout

No bulbs or holders.

Ahhhhh so no phone kit fitted then, one presumes. Impossible to tell. It has been thoroughly de-plodded, which is unimportant.

Radio aerial in screen eh... Every day's a school day!

General Discussion Area / Mr A Allbright

New project has arrived. 2000W plate V6 special in Persia Red (and rust. Mainly rust). It was owned by 2woody, formerly of this parish... But in the glovebox is a letter to a Mr Allbright who I presume was the first civvy owner.

Just curious if he's a member on here...?

Omega General Help / Did the roof aerial change places with the DBW?
« on: 09 December 2023, 07:33:44 »
I've just acquired another project... W plate 3.0 special. It's as rough as a badger's backside but as I peered admiringly out of the upstairs window I realised it has a grommet in the front centre of the roof... But nothing at the back end at all, no aerial, grommet, or lump of filler.

Both my 03 Special and my old 02 civvy spec had a little one at the back of the roof.

Did they change between the model years, or was the little one an option? I assume the grommet is covering where the aerial for some bit of plod kit was precisely and carefully fitted.

Yes I live a FASCINATING life.

Good to know some brand names, thank you!

We hve a Pirtek ten minutes drive away and they're pretty decent, so I'll tend to go there now...

General Car Chat / Fuel hose - careful now!
« on: 04 November 2023, 15:01:01 »
I know it's common knowledge by now but you really can't be too careful. I appear to have been caught out buying supposed fuel hose online, despite it being from a reputed seller. Can't see which because it's lost in the history files.

The "fuel hose" I fitted to Zeke less than 18 months ago has completely and utterly perished so I hve a wonderful flammable fountain going on under the back end... Haven't driven him for at least 6 months but charged the battery, turned him over and got dizzyingly high but no engine.

It's the last time I buy fuel hose from anywhere the staff aren't physically available for a good shoeing!

Just arrived in what I believe is called "The South" and outside our hotel is a rare silver Omega... Anyone on here? :D
Did you forget which car you drove down?

:D nahhhh my silver one went a couple of years ago before it crumbled into nothing on the drive ...

Then at the show I saw Y523ABA, the black ex GMP VIP car looking incredibly tidy!

Bit of underseal and a clean underneath Ezekiel. It's done about 1000 miles this year and isn't looking too shabby.

Then fiddled with the 406 for a bit, in anticipation of a mild remap and a bit of cosmetics.

Any suggestion I was putting off looking at the Mk2 Golf project is downright slanderous, but as it happens I've got a bit more done on that too.

I am CAKED in filth.
