Take 2.

Router h/w will be swapped out over the weekend, and no doubt the config I have put on the replacement will have typos and other cockups.

Appreciate your efforts keeping it all going - Great Forum  :y

Omega General Help / Re: HBV Part number ?
« on: 25 June 2023, 17:36:59 »
If you do find a new tank without the cap, don't get a cheap cap I had a cheap one for my Vectra and it disintegrated pretty quickly. Got a good one, no problem.
Noted  :y

I'll leave the header tank then.  HBV as per link earlier ordered so hopefully that will last the same 23 years the other one did !  :D

I looked recently  for a new one and the only one I could find did not have a level  monitor . I had to find a second hand one.

I found this new tank https://www.autodoc.co.uk/aic/16115696 and looks the same with sensor, but it says not suitable for the car - Odd.

I'll stick with old one for now then unless get lucky and one pops up.

The Omega versions were all superseded by the Vectra part 95517483. The only difference is that the Vectra version has a curtain shroud around the vacuum port. Otherwise it's identical as to function and fit. Good for any Omega B or B2.

A genuine GM part has been hard to come by for some years. However the ones here seem to be good quality, at least the last one I bought was. Looked to be a genuine part.

Many thanks and good to know.  I'll order one and try the Dealer on the off chance.

I guess its the same for coolant expansion tank, hard to come by ?  Mine is original and a bit brown with iffy coolant sensor was was looking to change to a new one but quick search looks hard to find unless there are any recommendations for that as well ??

TIA.  :y

I don't mind doing it myself as pretty confident and handy with the spanners, and looks not too bad but I don't have all the right tools at present as would need

  • Suitable bearing puller / contraption
  • Suitable bearing putter back inner
  • Suitable Hub puller and putter back inner
  • Suitable impact wrench for the big nut
  • Correct size sockets for hub bolt and driveshaft bolts

I think thats it.

There is a place called "AutoVaux" on the wirral I may consider but not sure if anybody has used them or known to have done Omega Bearings before.

SKF should be a safe bet.

If you get a choice of two sizes, go smaller. The estate/Monaro ones are a smidge wider, 2mm iirc  ;)

Starter for 10...

Trusted supplier that I have used repeatedly  :y

Many thanks  :y  Ordered 2 from SKF directly just now.

Just need to find somebody to fit them for me :(  #Pleasehelp

Hi,

I suspect rear O/S wheel bearing is grumbling.  Above 20 mph get a grumble, and goes if take a right hand corner.

They have never been done so probably time they were changed.

Car is a 2.5V6 manual, V Plate Mini Facelift, SALOON.

I have had look at the guide and I think best somebody who has done a few and has the right tools best I think.

Any advice or recommendations as to whom could assist in Wirral/North West ??

I would change and put new rear Discs on as well, and new handbrake shoes.

Any recommendation as to decent bearing ?  I believe Saloon has different size ????  Want to make sure I get the right one :)

Thanks in advance.

Andy.
