Omega General Help / Re: breather bridge to plenum seal 90467543

Who's winging? It's not my car. If it were mine and £20 gets it going again, then I know what I'd do.

Has the top-hat seal actually been removed and examined? If it's not torn then it can be reused.

If needs be there are three seals available here. Albeit a bit price gouged.

The top-hat seal?
Mostly they can be refitted multiple times? So if yours is not torn or otherwise damaged then clean it and refit.

Some of the members seem to have bought up the available stock several years ago. So if you really need a new one then post up a draft request in the test section. A sympathetic moderator might well move it into the wanted/for-sale section for you.

The issue with the insert repair kit is that you also need to buy a good quality non-standard sized (9.9mm) drill bit, a 7/16-20 tap set and a bottle of the red Loctite threadlock. It might be cheaper overall to get a professional shop to remove the broken bleed screw. Either by welding a nut or spark erosion. Alas these places are getting harder to find.

You haven't said which side of the car has the broken screw? You might have better luck in the wanted section if you ask for the caiiper you need in the wanted section as opposed to a pair.

I'm pretty sure that the Omega uses M8 bleed nipples though.
Fronts are M8x1.25 Part #90369391
Rears are M7x1.0 (x 41mm ?) Part #90297538

The vented 42mm bores vs 40mm gives you about 10% more braking force applied to the rear discs.

Is it that the problem you want to fix is that one of your existing vented rear calipers has a sheared off bleed screw that might have a broken extractor in it? Nearside or offside? Your request on the forum for a spare hasn't produced any result?

If so can anybody weld a nut onto the broken bleeder and get it out that way? Or recommend somebody who can?

Assuming you have a usable pair of non-vented calipers available then I suppose you could simply install a pair of solid discs to match. That might be cheaper and easier.

Probably available cheaper from Vauxhall.
The seal should be included on an original thermostat housing, but I don't see it in the ebay listing photos. The seal is probably part #95519738, but you need to check that for yourself.

On a UK spec Omega the thermostat should remain closed until it starts to open at 92°C. 107°C is fully open. If it opens too soon or is stuck open then the engine will run cool.

There seems to be some 82°C thermostats in circulation. They might physically fit but the engine will struggle to get up to the correct  temperature. Yours sounds like it's stuck open. Maybe partially.

On a 2.2 16V with a failing cam sensor you would likely see random fault codes supposedly related to the autobox. Nothing actually specific to the cam sensor.

I can't remember about the 2.0L, however I would still go for the cam sensor. The four pot crank sensors seem to be pretty bulletproof. Just make sure the replacement cam sensor is correct for the car and it's ECU.

The target is for the thermostat to remain closed until it starts to open at 92°C. 107°C should be fully open. Sounds like yours is possibly stuck open.

Which thermostat from EuroCarParts did you fit? ECP part number or link?

One of the other members fitted a Circoli part from ECP to a 2.0L. Live data suggests that this thermostat opened at 76°C. So way off, the engine was never properly up to temperature unless maybe driven hard.
