It's not different, and it's not delivered ;)

Listing is for Collection Only. From Essex.
The Saab V6 GM genuine pump at £29.95 that I linked to was free delivery. Doesn't matter now as somebody bought it.

How exactly is the Saab branded part any less OE than the Cadillac / AC Delco part? At the relevant time Saab was a GM brand and the V6 used was the same 54 Deg V6 made in Ellesmere port that was used in the Omega B/B2 and the Cadillac Catera. A genuine Saab pump at £30 delivered and it's already in the UK, that's the same or better priced than the aftermarket versions.

You forgot to post the link?

For Omega V6 parts you can also check Saab V6 parts as the engines are the same.

Here's a genuine Saab pump that cross references the GM Opel part numbers for the pump you want. So should be the same. Confirm for yourself.

Buying from the USA, as suggested above, will involve foreign currency transaction charges, high postage charges (assuming they will ship it out of the USA at all, some will only ship to the lower 48 states), a Royal Mail clearance fee if posted, else an even larger clearance fee if couriered and VAT on UK arrival payable to RM before delivery. You'll probably avoid the duty charges since it's less than £130. So a last resort really.

Omega General Help / Re: what size allen key

If I were you, I'd get something like this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253418130398?hash=item3b00e5cbde:g:mogAAOSwnipWVXdJ

That includes both long and short allen keys. It also includes the Torx and XYZ bits which crop up all over the place. You'll need the XYZ bits to get the brake backing plate off.
I believe you meant XZN bits which are also known as 'triple square' bits. (They have 12 points). The one for Omega backplates is M10 XZN long. Like this one. Though mine isn't an expensive Facom, I think it was about £6.50. Use the wrong bit and you will likely damage the splines in the bolt heads. That will be fun.

I don't think there are any XZN bits in the kit you linked to.

They're the ones just to the left of the bit holders
So I saw, however the description doesn't say they're XZN/Triple Square bits, it just says "Spline". XZN has 90° corners, standard splines are 60°. XZN is popular on German cars. A standard spline might fit in but it won't have the maximum surface area in contact. A good fit is more important when trying to undo an old bolt that's maybe never been undone in 20 years. Not to mention corrosion.

The factory fit ones were made by Bosch. You might be still able to get them. The part number is probably Bosch 0 986 357 055. But check that out for yourself or make sure they can be returned. Autodoc have them here.

Surely the vented caliper pistons are slightly larger than the pistons for non vented solid discs?

The rear calipers for 12mm thick solid discs have '40' cast into the piston housings.
Calipers for 20mm thick vented rear discs have '42' cast into the piston housings. So roughly 9% more surface area on the pistons.

These vented calipers also have the 8mm thick spacer between the two halves to allow for the extra 8mm thickness of the vented disc.

countrywoman says her calipers have 40 cast into the housings. 40 would indicate solid discs and standard fitting kit. Check and see if there is an an 8mm spacer sandwiched between the castings? No spacer would confirm solid discs.

What's the part number of the fitting kit you have? Assuming you have solid disc calipers it sounds to me that you have a Vectra B fitting kit which won't work.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear damper top mounts

The proper mounting kit comes included with Sachs / Boge standard rear dampers. The washers can be reused, it's the rubber that degrades.

Last question… can u remind me where u put that green snot? If memory serves it’s just under the front cam caps but honestly can’t remember 🤣

There's some photos in the guide here.
However don't use the GM "green snot". I know the green sealer is in Haynes and also TIS but it goes hard and then crystallises, which contributes to leaking. Instead use the black high temperature sealer for the oil pan, GM part 90485251. Actually it doesn't have to be black, there are other colours. Just that the GM Opel sealer is black and way over priced. Grey sealer was used in the guide photos

Which thermostat is currently fitted? Is it still the Circoli one or did you replace it?
And what cooling fan switches did you end up with?
I ask because your engine still seems to be running cool.

The engine still seems to be running rich and there is a petrol smell from the exhaust at idle.
The thermostat should remain closed until it starts to open at 92°C. It should be fully open at 107°C. If the thermostat opens too soon or is stuck open then the engine will run cool and run rich(er).

What about the MAF sensor, was that changed?
Also what make and model was the "type approved" catalytic downpipe?

As suggested by Doc Gollum in last years thread. Did you disable the radiator fans and check if the engine now gets up to operating temperature? Does that have any effect on the open/closed loop issue?
