Omega General Help / Rattling Cat
« on: 29 June 2019, 15:35:03 »
Traced the rattle from underside on tickover to the "brick"inside the offside cat.

When thumped definite loose " brick" …..other than making the nasty rattle does this have any other detrimental effect. Also on original cats had both rear lamba sensors repositioned to avoid error codes. Can I assume with a new cat I wont need the lambas moved and its just a remove and replace.

Finally any good sources for something half decent other than the usual pattern rubbish out there.

Thanks  :y

Some Bas*****d failed to stop today whilst I was parked in  a leafy village in S.Kent after leaving the casing of my drivers door mirror in several bits,

Looks like the main metal body is intact but I am more than happy to take entire mirror if it helps.Must be drivers side and for a FL Elite with memory and heated glass....if at all possible Z20R Black but appreciate this might be reducing my options so happy to take any colour as long as intact and working.

Thanks guys :y

Last couple of times I have replaced the back pads on the Omega have found difficulty getting the piston fully retracted.Up till now I have always used large water pump grips with the old brake pad,but thinking of now buying a proper tool to do the job.

See lots of options but what would be others advise on the better set to buy :y

General Car Chat / Front Bumper
« on: 21 October 2018, 15:12:47 »
Whilst my car was parked at local shops some scumbag  :(has caught the o/s of my front bumper and has left a large scuff removing most of the Z20 black paint from the corner..

Only option I can see is a full front bumper repaint as its had previous damage in it past life.

Could do with some guide line of what cost I am likely to be faced with tomorrow when I go out searching for repair.??

Assume Smart repair would be less than body shop but some guidance would be really useful :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / NCDC Mute Issues
« on: 24 September 2018, 12:14:24 »
Thought it might be better starting this as a new post incase it becomes easier for any other members having similar issues or want to try and resolve fault with NCDC 2013/5 phone muting problems.

TB kindly swopped over codes  for my  fault nav unit in NCDC 2013 and repaired the original CID back to the working Headunit. All good and everything worked as it should however my Parrot CK3100 when used wouldn't mute the speakers and whilst the phone and Parrot screen all worked it wouldn't allow original use of the phone. This had worked on the original NCDC before the swop so it has been suggested a rare fault occurs within the NCDC,where it wont mute the speakers down, and a possible fix is to replace the back board within the top part of the 2013 .

I have stripped down the original faulty NCDC by removing the nav disc mech and am now slightly confused as to what actually is the "back board".I am assuming it is the smaller of the circuit boards which has the multipug connection with the red 10amp fuse fitted but before I delve further I would just like some confirmation this is correct. It would seem to be secured by a screw at the side of the casing and another in the back,so would it then just pull out of its fixing and the small ribbon cable with the red joiner come apart, or is there any other thing I need to be aware of .

Hope this may assist others and possibly TB or VXL offer their words of wisdom on this please.

Omega General Help / Radiator Thermo Switches
« on: 24 July 2018, 21:22:53 »
After a productive afternoon with the coolant pressure tester I have now managed to trace the coolant leak which I thought was originally the aux electric pump..but now is certainly the plastic edge of the radiator at the bottom.

Question I have is when the new rad is fitted is it necessary to replace any seals on both the 2 thermos switches,as cant see any point in replacing either as fans etc work fine..its just rad that has worn .

Can I re-anneal the copper washers assuming that's how they are sealed or should seals be replaced...if so where can these be sourced

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Here We Go Again.
« on: 18 June 2018, 20:23:09 »
Fitted new heater blower hedgehog weekend before last and fan and climate has worked faultlessly since then.

On way home from work today blower started making noise like something had got caught in vent like you get with a leaf or similar, but blower was working all speeds .

Pulled onto driveway and as turned radio off couldn't hear fan motor running.Further investigation  back to square 1 from 2 weeks ago.

Fan will not function on any setting now and when tried to increase fan speed on cc panel tell tale indicator increases as if fan is running but then after a few seconds dissapears as before.

Could a brand new hedgehog of failed so quickly?..is motor now jamming and causing short somewhere as all fuses intact .

Any ideas guys  :o

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Interior Cabin Blower
« on: 06 June 2018, 13:18:21 »
Strange problem and could do with some help please.

Drove to work this morning approx. 30miles..A/C working fine and nice gentle cool air from blowers.

Parked up in direct sunlight for around 2 hours..got back into car started fine but felt warmer than temp at 20c climate panel was showing.Pressed blower to increase speed but no improvement.Turned climate down to increase cooling but still no improvement and no blower.

Checked A/C and clutch engaging and when moving there was a definite cool air movement but blower wouldn't work on ant temp setting nor manually adjusting with either eco on or off.

Have checked all fuses under steering wheel as seems several are labelled cooling fan but non are blown and everything else electrical seems to work.

Would of expected if motor failed fuse to of blown so now struggling to thing what else could be the issue.Assume there is a relay in the circuit...any idea which/colour and where .

Any help appreciated  :y
