I needed fuel on way home tonight on m25.Decided Clacket Lane would be pricey as always so pulled of on A22 at South Godstone and found a Shell station.Normal unleaded was £1=10.9 so decided to only put £20 in a drive very slowly home.
This is now getting bloody serious.

Yes ,2 hours about right.I have hardwired mine in to ignition feed and taken wires up through side air vent.Lokks a lot neater but is a pain having to unplug and remove and then reconnect again, but better than a brick through windscreen I suppose.

Recently bought a Tomtom XL after years of reading maps and using Multimap.Got the system now but cant see the screen as with windscreen mount it is too far away,so opted for a dash mount for it.Must say it is very clever, but does have the habit of taking you strange ways especially in South  London,I have had several arguements with it.

Just checked my fuel receipts for last weeks work and I put in £145=00 fuel and that is doing my usual 100+ miles a day.I am also not a taxi driver.
Made a bit of a cock up at a BP station in Dover.didn,t have my glasses on and pulled up to pump that had derv and green noozle.Put my usual £40=00 (as cant bring myself to spend more than that in 1 go ..its mind games )and when I went in to pay and looked at receipt I had put in Super unleader and it was £116.9 a litre. That will teach me to wear my glasses when filling up.

My last mega 2.5 cdx passed 225,000 miles when both the oil cooler and heater matrix gave up,but would have probably still been going if I had the knowledge I have now thanks to this forum and others advise.
Intend to try for a higher mileage with my present car..fuel prices permitting

Thanks for advise James.
Assume that if the covers are leaking any ammount of breather cleaning will now not cure the problem..is it back to replacing the gaskets and doing the breathers properly ??or might I get away with just cleaning breathers...as I bet that blo...dy tame mechanic I used  didnt do them either despite charging me for doing them and the assurance that they were done.

What with Christmas round the corner and several hungry mouths to feed decided it was either do it myself or not get it done..now have the pleasant satisfaction that I mastered a task that according to Mr Haynes..is for a "competent diy mechanic" and is a 3 spanner job...so might give the cam cover gaskets a go when it warms up as my tame mechanic I have used for loads of years did them about 4 months ago (twice) as he said the covers were warped the first time and i bought genuine VX gaskets for him to do second time around ..and you guessed it..they are still leaking.
So if I have learnt nothing else all those hours I have sat at this key board banging away at the keys chattting with people I have never meet and possibly never will..You only know a job is done properly if you do it yourself..and I am not too old to have just proved it too myself.
Thanks guys and HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you all.

Just wanted to thank you guys for advise and knowledge over the last few months since I have enjoyed this forum.I am proud to say that I have just finished replacing my long over due radiator on my mega.
Took me all morning in between several coffee breaks so in total must have saved me 3+ hours labour. All works well, fitted new expansion bottle and cap, done a full flush of coolant and filled and added 5 litres  "red "vx antifreeze, and must say for a novice I am quite chuffed with my efforts.Fitted new seals on power steering banjo pipes and also on both thermo switches so baring major problems car should now hold it fluid !!!
Hope everyone who reads this has a great Christmas and best wishes to you and yours for the New Year.
Andrew
