Need to replace the adjusters inside both Headlights as existings are broken and lights are all over the place.

Guide states to re-seal with Silkaflex or similar ...which type as several listed.
Also is normal grease ok for the ball joint socket or does it need to be anything else ?

I'm not sure about Sikaflex if you ever want to get them apart again - if you do use Sikaflex 291 would certainly work.

There's probably enough of the original 'glue' left to reseal them again afterwards.

A bit of silicon grease will do the job ... nothing fancy.

I've done three now and was always able to get away with the old adhesive still attached.

I've done three, quite simple, no extra adhesive required. Pop unit in oven at 100 degrees for 15 minutes. Wearing boiler suit  over trousers and leather gauntlets, take out of oven, prise lens off light, repair, reasemble, place lens and light in oven at 100 degrees for 15 minutes, take aout, reassemble lens to light. Job done.

how do you tell if the adjusters have broken? i can't seem to see them inside.  mine got through mot no problem but they feel loose when poked with the rubber cover off the back.

If the reflector unit is flopping around the adjusters are probably broken. If it has gone through MOT and the beams are OK  you have no problem. If you fancy a bit of fun, you can buy adjusters, remove the headlight and replace the adjuster as described. Replacing the headlight is a bit tricky getting in the bottom bolt, some folk choose to remove the front bumper.

A MFL with headlamp washers will need the bumper at least moving out of the way due to the washer being fitted to the headlamp and not the bumper as on an Astra G Facelift

Did this before on my old MFL Elite and didnt use any extra black sealant but always had issues with mist and water marks inside after heavy rain or from car wash.

Never needed to wear boilre suit/gauntlets etc Terry when taking out of oven ,preferrring daughtes high powered hair drier.

Just wanted to check best sealant incase experience similar with these
