Oil filter change - which way round ?
« on: 01 October 2016, 08:03:36 »

Hi all,

Oil change this weekend on the old girl  :y and just wanted to double check which way round the oil filter fits ( small paper one ) in the housing.

I recall a lip / clip on the filter which pushes and locates on the cap ?, Which tourque setting is 15 Nm ????

I removed end cap last time, so I know it's not on "silly tight".

I was amazed as how small the filter was  :o. Will of course change the big o ring on cap as that's included in the (small) box from Vauxhall.

Thanks in advance.
Andy.

It is indeed. I had a 3.2 elite in for breaking several years ago which had the filter fited the wrong way round and was quite badly squashed. The bottom end of the engine was seized solid. Not sure if it was due to the filter, but wouldn't be surprised if it was.
