Paul Smart. Former TT and GP racer  and the first man to win a major race on a Ducati - Imola 1972.
He was 78 and killed in a road accident while riding a motorbike.
Very sad way for an old legend to go.  :(
He was married to Barry Sheenes sister Maggie.

Any of you who have followed Classic Rallying in the UK over the years will have seen this man in his bright yellow Porsche .
I met him once down here in SW Ireland and he was a charming and engaging gentleman .

I remember him from when I used to marshall at motorsport events and occasionally do a bit of service crew stuff, in the late 70,s.

Whenever I think of 'old school' gentlemen drivers Barry 'Whizzo' Williams always comes to mind.

' Whizzo' is probably dead and gone now.

He died in 2018 at 78. Left most of his £1.1 million estate to four charities.
My personal favourite of the old British racing drivers was Gerry Marshall. Usually very sideways at high speed in whatever Vauxhall Bill Blydenststien had prepared for him.
He had a heart attack died at the wheel of one them during a test session, iirc.
