Outage tis week
« on: 21 February 2021, 19:29:29 »

Need a slightly longer than normal outage tis week to do some patching.  The nature of this set of patches means its a bit more than the usual apply and reboot.

Not sure when yet though

No, we drop Hs at the beginning of words - 'orrible 'abit.

Dropping the H in a TH combination is more of an Irish 'ting'  8)

I grew up in deepest, mid Buckinghamshire, where they only had 20 letters in their alphabet ;D

Though in this case, it was due to that hopeless crap piece of Apple junk, referred to by the fanboys as a MacBook Pro.  Now the H has gone. FFS.

Well, that didn't go entirely as planned, grrrr.

The OS updates have buggered up some management tools we use, and the SMF application update needed a heap manual code changes to take.

And, it would appear there must be some (unknown) differences between our reference platform and the live platform, which needs some fixing so unexpected updates don't bite us again :(

Though its probably not as bad as it sounds, as due to the fustercluck going on with Centos Enterprise Linux going forward, we need to rebuild the platform from scratch anyway sometime in the next few months. Probably.

Yes, normally I'd be happy to stand off to one side and pass the hammer/chisel/12" petrol disc-cutter as required :y
