Alarm sounding intermittently
« on: 06 June 2021, 16:49:16 »

Well the alarm keeps going off every so often on my pfl MV6.

I have removed the power sounder thinking it was that but once activated with the remote central locking, it sounded again after about 15 mins. Obviously can’t keep the car locked as it goes off, sometimes in the night.

What could this be down to? Thought taking the power sounder out would stop it.

Incidentally I noticed that one of the horn buttons on the steering wheel doesn’t work.

Any pointers anyone?

And if that doesn't do it.

Engine on.
Everyone else out and all doors except drivers closed
Engine off.
Key out.
Press and hold alarm switch until it flashes/5 seconds.
Get out.
Close door and lock with remote.

Repeat everytime you unlock the car.

Also, check the manual, but iirc, if you lock it with the key, it doesn't set the interior alarm.

Leaving it unlocked is asking to have stuff robbed from it.

Had someone up this way tried the doors of every car in the street.

Thanks - I’ve disconnected the bonnet sensor.

See if that does the job. I’m listening out as we speak 😄

TBH - car is blocked in and behind security gates off the road - but appreciate low life is everywhere!

Does the Omega set the alarm when not using the key? When I've had this before, I used to get out of the car, open the rear door, push the drivers door catch down, which would lock all the doors and then close the rear door. This means no alarm, but at least it's locked.

Just be careful not to leave your keys on the back seat. Although no one would do that, would they?  ;D

I believe that it sets the alarm with the remote fob but not if you use the blade in the lock ;)

As far as I know it’s all quiet on the alarm front. Hopefully it was the bonnet catch 👍

I’ll keep a ear out from now on. I think even when I’ve locked it with the blade it’s set the alarm - anytime it was locked it could go off seemingly 🤔

It's the sort of thing that varies between model years...

For example, some cars you can open the windows if the key is out, as long as the drivers door is open...

Manual should cover it :y

All still quiet 🤞

Hopefully that’s cured it the alarm fault. I’ll get a new bonnet switch sometime. At least the fire hazard powersounder is out the way.

I don’t suppose that one horn button working for the MOT is a problem. Not sure why only one working but can live with it.

This :)

Cheap easy fix if you want the bonnet alarmed still. Or leave unplugged if you dont.
