It was Very cold this morning which makes the oil thick
Also very common for the oil pressure switch to read wrong or even split rubber inside, spewing half the oil out the engine  :(
new switch is only £10 ish
hope you get it sorted cheaply Uncle Stemo
Temperature will be up around 10°C in the morning, so it will probably be fine. But, as winter is upon us, I will take it up and see what they say. I do a lot of miles and I don't want to end up on top of the M62 over Christmas. It gets chilly up there.

Is that the 2.0CDTi engine that Vauxhall have fitted for the past decade or so?  I thought aside from occasionally injector issues (and DMFs on manuals), that was pretty reliable motor?
It is, and it's never missed a beat, but where oil pressure is involved, I'm taking no chances.
There are a couple of threads about it on your favourite forum  ;D

Apparently it's a thing on these engines, oil pick up seal. Only does it when it's freezing cold and only for 5-10 seconds. Thinner oil for the winter might cure it.
Car owes me nowt. Paid £8000 for it 4 years and 70,000 miles ago. I'd just prefer to keep it going until second hand prices settle down.

Good derv lump should literally run to the moon and back.

......about 480,000 miles.

At 90,000 it is not even a teenager yet.
It probably will if it gets the lubrication it needs.

Much like a woman then.... :y

Because when they go dry...... :-X :-\

Do you think a woman could go to the moon and back? 480,000 miles?   ???

I've always found them pretty temperamental and prone to breaking down at awkward times to be honest!  :-\                                           ;D
Probably not without a man driving :D

We'll see. I hope it's an easy fix, because we've been together a while now and we get on really well.

I'm naturally optimistic and agree with you, Tigger. :y

The old lad will get it fixed for a few quid and be as happy as a dog with two tails.

Perhaps you could assist your elderly uncle.

No warning message this morning, probably because it's warmer. Going to try engine flush, oil and filter, see how it goes.
