Yes, and I can personally see his point of view. Without the Soviet Union, who some historians calculate it is up to 24 million that they lost in WW2, China losing up to 20 million, the allies could easily have been defeated. The conflict would have lasted far longer and Hitler Vengeance / Retribution weapons would have been developed to such a point that they regained the upper hand.

The UN countries must do more to work with Putin to avoid conflict which nobody, including Russia, wants. I believe the West owes Russia enough to try and accomplish a compromise. 2022 cannot be a 1939 German situation for Russia.  The Ukraine cannot be another Czechoslovakia. If it becomes it, World War will follow :(

Interesting item on bbc website about military spending. Russia doesnt spend much more than Britain. India spends a lot but nowhere near that of China. US dwarfs everyone. Something like 770 billion to 70 odd billion for Britain.

Maybe Putin has a point or maybe it is just land grab in action.

Don't read too much into those figures... Russian wages are a fraction of those in the US, and in China, labour is effectively free.

Yes, and that is the way the USA will play the military defence game all the time it is the leading World power.  They are determined not to be caught of guard again as they were just over 80 years ago.  No doubt they are fully prepared to deal with what Putin may be planning, so God help us all when the diplomacy runs out! :o :o

Sippy Cup couldn't defend his position on ice cream. He hasn't got a cat in hells chance of stopping Putin from invading anywhere... In fact, he'd probably pay for the fuel. :-X
