Had it been a white person in a black neighbourhood in the seventies/eighties, then the situation you saw would have been reversed.
Trump isn't a hero of mine, but rather a refreshing change from the political elite. Middle America does not care for political gestures or pander to feelings. It says what it thinks and means what it says.
Rather than embracing the concept of free thought and speech, the liberalists insist on being the only mindset and voice. You can celebrate differences without being divisive. Two individuals or groups can have independent ideas. Neither is wrong, but the liberalists refuse to accept that as a fundamental concept, which serves only to fuel the rift.
If a person takes issue with something, then that's on them, because ultimately they're the one that has the issue*
If you straight-line a two lane roundabout and hit the car in the lane you cut into, that's all on you. If, instead you keep in your lane, both lanes flow freely and everyone has a good day. People, and life, are no different. Go about your journey in a way that allows for those around you to go about theirs.
*Within societal reason of course... Some things should never be tolerated, child prostitution or ethnic cleansing being two obvious examples
