...with a nice shade of sahara sand, pooled into spots by the light rain.

You can't wash it with tennis elbow etc. so that's a fair excuse.

I have one detailer I trust with my cars probably use him every six months , the rest of the time I do it nobody else allowed near them.

I chuck a couple of buckets of water over it every couple of months, and polish it once a year.

I strip, Cut and then polish mine once a year at least ,

I'm also known to go out in the rain and sponge some wash n wax over it and let the rain do the rest

To be fair, that is for a full service, including all filters etc plus the £75 excess on the tyre insurance to replace a bulging N/S front tyre.  Given the 13,000 mile pasting I've given it over the last 9 months, £450 doesn't seem unfair. Plus, most importantly, it gets a "stamp in the book".

So £375 without the insurance excess. When you consider Vauxhall charge £200 for an interim and close to £350 for a full on an astra, that's not too bad.

I didn't think so either. I wasn't under any illusion that it would be peanuts to service. Also, I think they're trying to up-sell me as I've had a brand spanking 3 series to hoon around in, which is nice 

That said the nice lady has just phoned me to say it will need 2 new tyres on the back as they're close to the legal limit (which I knew), so I will be opening the wallet again shortly.

I'm the wrong side of 50, and never polished a car.  Can't see me starting any time soon....
