Auto Addict, Tunnie and I did a 'quick' disc and pad change on Tunnies dad's 2.2. A say quick, but we started at 11am and finished around 3pm. But we were doing a how to, and AA and I were sat in chairs ribbing Tunnie non stop, so productivity was not good. Plus we had to stop for tea and bacon butties.
Then JamesV6CDX and his mate Markie turned up in Jame's new 2.0l - the one that the LPG stuff is going on. James and Markie got stuck straight into a Rover cambelt, while I helped Tunnie finish off his Dad's 2.2 brakes, and fit cruise, as Tunnies dad needed the car to catch a plane.
Rover cambelt wasn't entirely going to plan, and turned out it was a tooth out, and probably had been since we did the head gasket - no wonder she had been complaining it wasn't as quick as before
In the meantime, Tunnie went home to drop off his Dad's 2.2, and fetch the Senny - still full of leather interior we picked up yesterday in Nottingham. So scattered the leather across my front lawn. On closer inspection, I think the leather is in pretty good nick, just needs a damn good clean and a bit of conditioner on it.
More bacon butties
Tunnie again disappeared and got his own 2.2 so we could have a look at his window problem. Got the swicth unit out, but looks like its an electronic module, so probably easier to test by swapping with his dad's one (who by this time was on his way to airport) to see if its the switch unit, or a motor problem. A concerning noise from Tunnies cambelt area was the lowlight of the day, and I think a new cambelt needs to be done before that goes much further.
A quick look around Jame's new 2.0l, although it was dark. Nice front fogs - not! Apart from that, it looks decent. A quick play with Tech2 on it to fix MID (came out of 2.5) FC readings, and to clear any codes on systems the Tech2 would read on it. First car I haven't been able to read engine ECU - not sure if its any different from a 97 ECU?
A quick play with the electric leather seats was unsuccessful, though it was getting too dark and cold to persevere with it, so I think James and Markie are going to play with them later - PDF of seat wiring sent James.
So with everyone gone, Mrs TheBoy and I take the Rover for a spin, and she confirms that the pick up is now better than the cam timing is correct
Time for beer now
