I have other posts on this site, however brief history follows.

Codes present P0700, P0340 & P1700.

Car was going into limp home mode after hot starting.

Action taken:- New M.A.F. Sensor,  New Camshaft Sensor, Full major service, G/Box fluid change and flush.

Fault still present.  Car is now dropping revs on rev counter then actually dropping gear a split second later.

Is this likely to be crankshaft sensor or a more serious g/box fault ?

Gearchange is usually smooth and silent ?

Could the ECU's need a S/W update ?

Soz i only just seen this thread.......its sounds like the same fault as my 2.2  

MarksDTM is suggesting the ecu's g/b and engine and possibly ABS ecu (If on the can bus) needs to be checked to make sure they all have the lastest firmware on them.

I changed the crank sensor on mine.....pita job and it made no difference

Both cases are ones which realy require the live data viewing to understand (something that the dealers seem incapable of).

Having changed your auto box fluid, can you do another quick and easy check for me.......when its been on a good run, can you re-check the gearbox oil level......there are details on 'how to' in the maintenance area.....

Mine was also dropping gears after a fluid change......re-checked the level when hot and getting on for a litre came out...problem then went away and (touch wood) has not been back since.

The thing is that the later units (2.2/2.6/3.2) can signal to ECU to put it into a limp mode which reduces the torque through them.

Interestingly, Auto Addict alos had a full fluid change shortly after his cam sensor (if memory serves me correctly) and he now has no problems......its an easy check so worth a go.

Err.. no.

I had the autobox ECU changed under warranty, and cam sensor changed under warranty, but the gearbox oil has never been changed.
