General Car Chat / 2.5 Diesel Auto F/L Estate As a Tow Car
« on: 25 April 2013, 22:35:30 »
As per title fellas.

Any thoughts or experiences on using this engine gearbox combo in a FL estate as a tow car. Car will be used to tow a 1250Kg single axle pikey wagon. I know the gearbox won't appreciate a chip upgrade for extra horses, so is the 128 odd Bhp with an auto up to the job?

Any advice appreciated  :y

Hiya fellas,

My car will be heading for the scrappy this Sunday so thought I'd offer up any spares required.

The best bits are the wheels & the leather Elite door cards in black £40 for all 4.

Irmscher 5 spoke soft star 16" wheels in very good/excellent condition, 2 rears have Kumho tyres with shed loads of tread (done 2k miles), the fronts are Hankook Ventus prime with about 5mm on one and 3.5mm on the other. £25 each.

Interior cloth seats are unmarked with no rips.

CDR500 which requires no code.

Other bits available on request. Rear doors shot with rust.

Its the same car as the link below but in paint code 359/46L,46U: Jungle Green Mica.

Ideally it would be best if you could collect prior to Sunday mid day.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Stereo Code
« on: 09 November 2012, 11:38:05 »
Hiya fellas,

Looking at a couple of migs to replace mine which failed the MOT miserably the other day. One of the cars has "safe" on the MID and the seller doesn't have the stereo code. Can anyone advise a way around it or does it have to be sorted by a stealer. If its stealer only, does anyone have an idea of cost?

Any advice appreciated fellas  :y

Omega General Help / Rear Diff or Wheel Bearing Shot
« on: 08 November 2012, 16:43:42 »
Hiya fellas,

Looking at buying another Mig due to mine being torn a new "a hole" by the MOT guy on Tuesday. The one i'm looking at has a noise described as "Large whine from the rear axle which i believe may be a wheel bearing that needs replacing."

Question is, by jacking up each rear wheel, can i tell if its the bearing or the diff  :-\

Any advice appreciated as always  :y

General Car Chat / LPG - Still Congestion Charge Exempt ??
« on: 10 August 2012, 12:56:24 »
Hiya fellas,

As per title i'm a bit confused if some of the older cars that are on LPG are still Congestion Charge exempt.

There used to be the PowerShift Register that you could check the car against and it used to cover the majority of older cars with specific LPG systems listed in order to qualify. Looking at this list, which is dated 2010 has me wondering if this still applies.

Does anyone know if a) This PowerShift Register is still valid? or b) A web site listing which older LPG cars currently comply?

Cheers in advance for any help  :y

General Discussion Area / Bikers advice required please
« on: 10 July 2012, 12:08:15 »
Hiya fellas,

As per title really.

Noticed this on Fleabay and was just wondering what i should be looking for if i viewed it.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221045169428?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1112wt_1185

Don't know much about these but think it has the Rotax engine which i seem to recall is pretty solid. Is it belt or chain drive? If its belt, how long do they last? Any known problem areas to check?

Any advice as always appreciated  :y

Omega General Help / 2.2 auto with lpg.
« on: 19 June 2012, 07:55:32 »
Having been a Ford man for years and falling in love with my 2.5V6 Tourer (weekend & towing use), an LPG'd 2.2 auto saloon has caught my eye,so thinking of selling my current '04 Mondeo 1.8 work car. On paper, the Omega will be a far more enjoyable work drive (M4 Jct 10 - Canary Wharf) aswell as being a bit more economical. Whilst i'm still learning a lot about the V6 petrol, I know bugger all about the 2.2 nor the auto gearbox.
The car is an '03 with 116k miles, new cambelt and decent history. Any advice on what to look for with this engine/box away from the usual Omega issues. Have done a site search but can't seem to find much. Any advice much appreciated fellas. :y

Hiya fellas,

As per title, looking for a decent place to take my 7yr old lad to watch banger racing. Ideally within about an hours drive and one that includes a Demolition Derby (if H&S hasn't killed it off). Lots of races, noise etc required.

Any advice as always appreciated in advance.

Cheers :y :y

General Discussion Area / Laptop Help Please !
« on: 06 May 2012, 17:21:44 »
Hiya fellas, as per title really.

This one hurts as i used to know this stuff years ago.

I need my laptop for contract work as a BMS engineer.

I currently have a Dell Latitude D620 (running XP with service pack 3) with an Intel Core 2 CPU T7400 running @ 2.16Ghz & 3.25Gb or RAM +80GB HDD. My laptop is currently running hot on the mother board (fan ok) and suffers from the blue screen of death/ lockups etc. With this in mind I am looking for a replacement which I can drop my hard disk into.

Questions are, will the one in the link below do the job even though the CPU is slower and is it east to transfer a) A Hard Disk b) my higher RAM. Never done these on a laptop before.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DELL-LATITUDE-D620-CENTRINO-DUAL-CORE-LAPTOP-1-8GHz-1GB-RAM-60GB-HDD-/251052859508?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item3a73eaa074

Any help much appreciated fellas as this is driving me bandy!

Cheers again.

« on: 12 April 2012, 12:25:32 »
Hiya fellas, just wondering if this car is known by anyone. Im sure its been up for sale a few times with no bites. Seems cheap to me. Any ideas why not selling (service history?) :-\

Hiya fellas,

As per title really, looking for advice on what products to use in order to get the front GRP panel on my 2004 Bailey noce & shiney again. Its totally flat at the moment.

Ideally need to know the right paint restorer or polish. I'm guessing that car paint restorer or any form of T-Cut is a big no no, but its only a guess.

The rest of the van looks good, its just the front that lets it down.

Cheers in advance for any advice and help :y

Am waiting for the gags/petrol advice ;D

Omega General Help / Best Way To Decant Fuel From Omega Estate
« on: 30 March 2012, 17:22:01 »
Hiya fellas, as per title really. Due to the current fuel issues at garages, i've my work car (1.8 Mk3 Mondeo) with a full tank ready for next week, the wifes Mk3 Mondy at 3/4 full and Ollie (Omega) with a full tank.

Going down to Dorset this weekend and plan on doing about 350 miles total. Instead of joining a 45 minute queue for fuel, I was wondering if there is an easy & safe way to decant fuel from Ollie into a couple of 1 gallon containers so i can take it with me in the wifes car and top hers up in the process.

As per usual, any help/advice much appreciated fellas :y
