3,000 RPM change up
« on: 21 February 2007, 19:29:13 »

Does anyone know how to stop this changing up @3,000 rpm when cold , I no the reason why it does i.e getting the Cat' warmed up as quickly as possible etc, it but find it damn embarrassing and also don't feel it's doing the car much good either as it sounds like it's being thrashed when cold ; so is it ecu related or can something be disconnected?
Cheers Pete

On the firmware I'm running, it may do it once if cold, then changes much quicker...

Mine only changes up late the very first time when cold, and then changes as normal after that.

Mine will be an old version of the firmware too.

Mine, with the lastest firmware, changes normally when cold, the old firmware used to hang on to first.

Mine changes up (and down) exactly when I want it to every time under all conditions... mind you the control system running it is many, many times more complex and adaptive  ;D :y

Use the snow button, once going, its a bit of an art, but I use it every morning when leaving my road, mind you I do leave for work at 05:30 in the morning. ;)
I don't think the neighbours would be pleased with me otherwise.  :y

FWIW, when cold outside (only really winter) mine only does this when left outside.  If (as usual) it is garaged by the time its out, sat on the drive long enough to get out and shut the garage door (I know, primitive) the first shift is usually when I expect.  If its been left out, then the first shift up does come later than I'd like.
So, maybe let it warm a smidge (only a minute perhaps).
Mine is the orginal firmware (at the moment!).

If I have to scrape the sheet ice from the windscreen in the morning, then by the time I drive off the gear change is exactly as expected, smooth. I think this has more to do with the fact that by this time there by some heat starting to build up in the CAT’s, and so a 3000rpm gear change is not necessary. Your getting the car out of the garage, closing the door and all that will, probably be enough time for some heat to build up.
