Hi Mark,

Would a T2 highlight a crank sensor, or is this sensor a suck it and see?

Cheers

sounds like a good idea if it saves replacing the sensor.  I just hope it's not in a 'good mood' and is working when tested.

Does the crank work on the hall effect? as does the cam sensor?

You'd never guess what - the l**dy car started first time this morning  >:(

Now i think the problem maybe heat related becuase i did take the car for a short spin at about 13:00 yesterday luch and then it failed to start at 17:30.

Would a crank sensor cause intermittent warm start problems?

I'm thinking about buying one today and fitting tonight after work...

Hallelujah!

Whoo hooo i'll take my chances on a £70 sensor and do it after work (if they have it in stock)  I've seen a pic of a pre-facelift sensor next to the oil filter in the how2 section, so will my facelift be in the same location?  I don't recall seeing it during my recent oil change.

Cheers

pedal trick on 2.6. Press brake and gas pedal to the floor, turn key to position 2 and count the flashes from eml

if you get 0335 is crank sensor, ie 10flashes pause 3 flashes pause 3 flashes pause 5 flashes. Dont drive unnecessarily until changed, car could cut out and leave you with no power steering or brake servo

No errors just constant stream of flashes...  but then i did just start it and it ran ok, so maybe the error won't surface.

should store the code. Strange one. Any spark issues would show on pedal trick i would have thought. Maybe fuel related? Have you got pressure at the shrader valve on fuel rail? Maybe worth checking next time it plays up?

I did get a few flashy light yesterday but then cranked again and the EML was clear.  Code reader failed to show any errors.

Pressure in fuel rail and pump replaced yesterday in the carpark at work.  Tried to start in LPG and this failed also, although i have never tried this before and am not sure in LPG starts work on my car.

Cheers

Was this the EML flashing WHILST CRANKING ?? If so it indicates an immobilisor fault ....

I'm wondering ... on my old miggy I had an irregular starting problem .. it was, eventually, traced to the chip in the keyfob being loose, so not "talking" correctly to the chip in the car .. they have to line up accurately I believe... and every time the keys were in my pocket the chip was moving about.  It was solved by the simple superglueing of the chip into the case correctly .. so it no longer moved ....

Might be way off beam but a thought ???   :-/ :-/ :-/
