It may well drive, but not recommended or advisable, and if you do so with a miss you could harm the cat...

given that it's a mixer system, I expect that backfired through the inlet when the engine management had a wobbly....

well its doing it all the time i put my foot down under load now only on LPG :( must have somthing to do with one of these darm sensors, which would you guess it is james Crank Or Cam ? Or is it both ?

Strange thing is, the 4 pot can run with either the cam or crank failure.  Not with both failed though! Be odd if they both failed together...

Double check the charging voltage.

 :-/

Will Do in the morning when its nice and light again as i have to put the cambelt cover back on and i dont fancy doing that in the dark.
Why would the charging voltage make a car just cut out when driving if its to low ? and flag up the codes ?

James I cant reset the codes no way of doing it no poor mans tech 2 but ill give the 20 clear starts a bash tomorrow morning.

Could I still Drive 250miles with one of the sensors out, but saying that its backfiring quite bad on gas when i put my foot down and i dont fancy 250miles of that.

I checked TIS and it does say that with either fault code 0335 or 0340 you normaly get them together is this true can one sensor throw the other ?

Thanks smity but i need it running by monday at the latest and the ebay part would never get here on time with xmas post and all so ill have to buy new and i know its going to cost.

nope your right just checked the cambelt and it seems to be ok no teeth slipped

Now which sensor would fail for no reason whilst driving

Crank sensor or Cam Sensor

Why Would you put your money on it being the crank sensor cem_devecioglu is it because it failed while is was driving ?

here is a picy of the cambelt marks to see if they are ok

I dont want to have to buy two sensors if i dont have to at 40 quid a pop

Omega General Help / Help Pls Car Died In Fast Lane of M1 With A Bang
« on: 22 December 2007, 15:07:30 »
I was driving home for xmas to the northeast and i got 25 miles after 1.5 hours and the car just died in the fast lane, the rev counter went all over he shop up and down then just dropped to Zero.  :'( :'(

Pulled to the hard shoulder switch her off and back on she restarted but sounded alittle rough for abit Limped her back the 25 odd miles home
There was a bang as she died but i think it was just the LPG system back firing. Or could be the Cambelt Slipped ?

I really think the bang was a backfire of the LPG system when the car died (Mixer systems do Backfire loud from time to time)

The Codes That i have paper clipped out are

0335         Crank sensor
0340         Camshaft sensor

Have these appered because the cambelt has slipped ?   :'( :'(

Can anyone help as i want to get back home for Xmas

« on: 14 December 2007, 13:47:51 »
Thanks Mark Guess its ok then.

I wonder where that squeek is coming from at hight revs when under load, I am starting to think its the cambelt Tensoners I hope not guess ill find out when driving back to the north next week if it gos ping it was the cambelt tensoners but they were only dont 13,000 miles ago. Might take them out over xmas to see what conditons they are in.

Omega General Help / Power Steering Pump knacked ?
« on: 14 December 2007, 12:33:58 »
Hiya chaps i have been getting a squeek at high revs about the 4k mark so i thought it was my AUX belt being glazed so i pop off and got another took the old one off and checked all the contracts that the aux belt drives and my power steering pump round thing that the belt sits around is loose is it ment to be tight with no movment i dont mean spinning it i mean back and forth.

I have just rechecked it and its not moving left right up and down thats solid its back and forth it has some movement

Thanks  Chaps

Omega General Help / Re: Just been given a 2001 GLS Estate...

Yep a 2.0l is fine alittle under powered if you want to blast from start to stop and start again, but its fine sitting at 70 or above cruising down the motorway.

Dont be scared to take the revs right up on a 2.0l to get the most out of it i hit 6,000 most times.

but yep make sure the cambelt is in it 40,000 range or 4 year old range

Omega General Help / Re: Alarm
« on: 26 November 2007, 12:54:07 »
Yep its a waiting game for you now to see if the alarm still triggers

What Mark is saying is the omega has two alarm horns, a power sounder which has a backup battery for if someone trys to remove your main car battery to stop the alarm going off.

The second Alarm Horn sounds like a car horn to gos off if any of the alarm sensors are activated or been tampered with.

What happenes with the power sounder is the back up batterys in it fails and and it will not hold charge any more or the batterys in it leak shorting out the circuts in the power sounder, and the ecu thinks the power sounder is being tampered with so sets off the alarm.

If the alarm is triggered and both the normal alarm horn and the power sounder are in good working order they will both sound

Omega General Help / Re: MV6 3.2 exhausts!
« on: 08 November 2007, 13:53:43 »
You will find a big saving if you have a Trade Card.

Taxi Driver got my Exhaust Cat Back and saved me about 70 or 80 quid with his TC

Oh and mine is only a 4 pot 2litre so it was only one mid section and one back box, You having a v6 will be 2 mids and one back box

Omega General Help / Re: Remote Locking and Alarm Problems
« on: 23 November 2007, 16:40:00 »
this question is alittle different to yours mate

the omega has two alarms a horn alarm and a power sounder

Graeme29 is asking if its possible to stop the alarm going off when he enters his car by using the key to open the lock, the alarm on all omegas gos off if you enter the key into the lock and open the door its switch off by putting the key in the Ignition

He could unplug both alarms under the scuttle but the indicators would still flash and i would not like my car parked up without any alarm on it and i dont think your insurance would either.

But it is possible to stop it sounding the alarm and not having any

Omega General Help / Re: That Bloody Alarm!!
« on: 23 November 2007, 16:35:36 »
Its the black bit of plastic attached to the wind screen rubber at the bottom of the windscreen, if you lift the rubber you will see plastic screws turn them all and pop off the scuttle, Oh you will have to remove the wind screen wipers first the caps pop off and then undo the nuts and off they come
