Title: heater never gets HOT ! help
Post by: gav mv6 on 19 January 2016, 17:14:45
ive owned this car for well over 6 years now and back when i 1st had it i really loved the way it warmed up the inside of the car very quickly , now its tbh total crap , i have done the following ...
drained flushed and refilled the cooling system , the engine gets up to temp very quick and sits just below half way and never moves now ,
replaced the heater bypass valve in the engine bay again ,
replaced the 'hedgehog' under the passenger side of the dash board ,

its really the most annoying thing with an otherwise lovely to drive and great car , any advice please as im fed up with it never really warming up , its even worse if you out the fan on full , i just leave it on 4 and put up with it

thanks in advance

Might need to directly flush the heater matrix itself instead of the entire cooling system...

Needs the heater matrix to be flushed and reversed flushed several times on its own by disconnecting hoses to the matrix..and using garden hose...there is a how to guide on here..

Is your outside air temperature sensor reading correctly?

Mine went wrong, reading too high and it make the climate cold.

There is motor next to the coolant if it dose not move or vibrate that means it's seized which forces the water around the matrix just turn engine on a place hand on motor to see it vibrates if doesn't it means it's dead if this has been going on for a long time then you may need a new heater matrix as it's all corroded

Nonsense...

That pump is ONLY for pushing coolant through the heater matrix when the engine is OFF, ignition on, heater on... designed to keep interior warm for a short period after switch off.

Op, try the maintenance guides... your issue is well covered :y

Indeed... Was an optional extra, winter pack. In fact, I removed mine to fit the LPG Vaporiser there ;)

Hi,

suffered by the same issue, flushed many times, removed maybe it was blocked but no, free water flowing not blocked section at all. Put matrix back tried again no success, decided to order a new heater matrix, fixed now heating like hell. I still have the old one, no damage on it, no any blocked section just some deposit layer inside because of which heating is effectiveless. If you have enough time try to remove matrix and make a long inside cleaning, I didn't want to wait at the time just put a new one but I didn't regret at all...
Good luck matey!

I had my external temp sensor go wrong the other way round, showing extreame low outside temp so it was like an oven inside the car. Have you tried doing the matrix flush with the dishwasher tablet method. Many have had sucess with that
