Title: RIP Poppy
Post by: STEMO on 11 June 2022, 18:25:54
Had to let our little girl go today. Had eleven great years with her.

So sorry to hear that Steve. I know you loved the little thing dearly.  :'(
Its always hard to let go of an old friend, but when it gets to the point where it would be unkind to them to keep them going, then it has to be faced.  :(
Had it with our big old angry ginger Tom 20 years ago. Had him 21 years years (longer than the kids) and he was like a mate to me.
Broke my heart to tell the vet to go ahead and do what was kindest for him.

Thank you all. It is very sad, but I couldn't watch her go downhill and I couldn't put her through the treatment at her age. Every dog/ cat owner, and there are a lot of them, has to go through it at some point.
I am sad, but philosophical.

Sorry to hear this Stemo, they are great companions and part of the family. My present dog[a not very wrinkly Sha Pei] I bought as a pup and she's now 12 has recently[despite treatment]gone blind in her left eye and is getting less inclined to walk any kind of distance. What I will do when she goes[assuming she goes first of course]I dread to think as when my last dog died I sat and cried for ages. This one will certainly be the last as the odds of me seeing yet another one out are slim indeed.

An extremely difficult and heartbreaking thing to do .
I do know how you feel as I've had to do it four times with our cats .
I wish I could say something to make it easier Steve but I'm afraid love hurts.

She really was lovely ,and loved .
Deep breath and chin up .......
Don

Really sorry to hear that Ste, my condolences.

It is the hardest decision to make as a pet owner; what's most important is that we do the right thing by our companions and it sounds like you did just that.

All the best,
Jimmy
