The rear wiper on the V70 has not been returning to base when I switch it off and parks itself in the middle of the screen.

So this afternoon I removed the motor, opened up the casing and lots of water poured out. Cleaned it all up, greased it and reassembled.

No difference.  >:(                                                          FFS!  ;D
If it's actually clearing the rear screen, I wouldn't delve any deeper, it'll drive you mad.

I'm going to get rid of both soon anyway and just have one car, as keeping two is becoming an extravagance.  ::)

Don't know what the replacement will be yet. Maybe I'll start a thread!  ;D

Why have you got two cars anyway?

The V70 is an old banger/workhorse that I use and abuse and the Mondeo is my decent/Sunday car.  ;D

Alternatively I'm slightly eccentric.  ::)  :)

He said slightly eccentric, not blind, burdened with 3.5 children and 5 senile parents, and lost the will to live a couple of decades ago.

3.5 kids and four senile parents short, but it's a pretty accomplished package on the road  :D

Drove the V70 to Wallsall on Saturday[110 miles each way]chucked a Mondeo V6 engine and gearbox in the back and came home again 36.4 mpg average for the journey not too bad for a 22yr old 2.4 petrol engined motor I don't think.

What sort of MPG do you get from it now its all serviced and you've had some time/miles to get used to it?

Averaging 30 - 31mpg on my new commute without faffing around.

Doesn’t seem to matter whether my journey average is above or below 40mph either as the higher the speeds the greater the momentum so the less effort to keep moving whereas stop start traffic kills the economy because you're always getting the weight moving.

One of the two exhaust boxes between the cats and the back box tail pipes had a hole blown out through its side.

So today I fitted a Holts wide bandage gun gum kit around it to give me some time before I replace both boxes.  I know they won’t be cheap, but hey ho, the joys of running a 3.2 Omega with twin exhausts! ;D ;D

Got to start looking for the best price and who will supply them ::) ;)

Topped up the screenwash on the Omega and Boxster - that was it for the day.  ;D
Will probably revisit Pierre tomorrow if my patience is feeling strong.
Refitted cambelt and other bits a couple of days ago and it wound over on the starter without any worrying noises.
No sign of it trying to start at all though.
Sprayed a bit of brake cleaner down the air intake and it fired up and ran for a few seconds.
Fault code suggests a problem with fuel supply, and it does indeed behave as though its not getting any fuel.
Cant imagine why it has decided to do this when the cambelt apparently jumped a few teeth while it was ticking over though.  ::) ???
