astra brakes advice needed
« on: 12 May 2015, 07:35:51 »

Hi guys,
replaced both front metal brake pipes on a W reg astra which was my daughters. Plan is for swmbo to use this for a while.  When bleeding the front nearside  . . .even undoing the bleed nipple to almost it's full extent  .  . the pedal is showing a fair bit of resistance when trying to push downwards to bleed. Never come across this before, when bleeding, pedal always goes down easily. Any ideas or advice greatly appriciated :y

PS. brakes were fine  . . .pipes only changed for MOT as were rusty & failed ::)

Also have checked for any kinks etc. in new pipes  all ok  :-\

Possible blockage in that sides flexy brake hose, will fluid dribble out on its own when bleed screw slackened?

Pop the flexi off at the chassis end and try, it maybe that you have crimped the new brake line as they go through a few tight turns on the Astra which are easy to mess up without a very good bending tool.

I had this on the nearside front of a GSI Astra. Some crap had dropped into the top of the flexi whilst I was fitting the pipe.
