My daughter messaged me earlier to say that her mate's car had failed its MOT due to blocked washer jets, and the garage in question had quoted £100 to sort it. My daughter .... who is 'careful' with money (no idea where that's come from  ) thought it was way too much ... I agreed & offered to look.

Too late, her mate had given the garage the go ahead to sort them at the quoted figure.

I've no idea what the car was or the cause of the blockage, but £100 seems to taking the pi$$ to me.

Thieving bastards, easy to unblock washers as you & I know, I always add some Milton fluid to my washer fluid bottle have done this for years now & never get any blockages.

Before we start showing how massive our balls are, we don't know the reason why it failed.

Andy has said that his daughters friend has said that the MOT tester has said that the washer jets were blocked.

Failed Pump?
Rodents buggered the lines?
F*cked Activation Switch?

But don't get all woke (I rammed it in there M'Lud) on half-baked (eighth-baked) information.

Thieving bastards, easy to unblock washers as you & I know, I always add some Milton fluid to my washer fluid bottle have done this for years now & never get any blockages.

And the only thing to stop blockages is to actually use them.  Once a week, necessary or not, pull on the stalk and get the pump working, get the water through the lines.

we all know what it could have been, but apparently a fairly recent car not a shed with the possibility of failing none return valves or pumps or switch

which is why I said I'd have a look .... not fix them

like the idea of the milton fluid.how does that compare to a dash of disinfectant. mine are prone to getting sludged up and due to mileage only get topped up about once a year !
at least on the omega thou its always just the pump filter . other cars block the nozzles .

Don't know about disinfectant but I swear by Milton, I had an Hyundai Terracan a few years back & the washers were always getting clogged up, went on the Hyundai forum & a guy from Australia told me to use it as the problem was pretty common on them for some reason, they water would also get quite smelly this was cured as well, I put a capful in about once a month, never have any problems now .
