If you have lost the code, or if like me never could find it, try http://www.radio-code.co.uk. Have tried them a few times and a lot cheaper than local VX dealer and quicker. :y

And remember, the OP is a US citizen, and probably different laws regarding fogs (not that any Chavs around here obey such rules)[/quote]

i did not see any reference to being a citizen over the pond, could not even find an intro on the newbies welcome page. Any way i am sure you must be right my e.s.p. is switched off at the moment. ;D

Fair comment. As the poster has not said where he is i could only assume that he was over here. My mistake, sorry. Perhaps todd2fst4u would like to fill out where they are in relation to the rest of us or U.S.

But i still do not see the point of putting them on with main beam. :o

Am i missing a point here? Why do you want to put on your fogs with your main beam.

The fogs cut underneath the fog because of their height. Inputting on the main beam as well you are going to get glare from the fog. If ,as i suppose, it is because of poor dip beams then look at up grading the bulbs in them.

The shorting out of the relay by the bare copper wire is an accident waiting to happen. [smiley=shocked.gif]

Hi,
The 2.2 is a DBW (drive by wire) which unfortunately means it is controlled via the ECU.

I have had a similar problem with my Omega.

If you can have a look at the throttle pedal. There is a connector there, small plug, which some times gets caught by the drivers feet. Check to see if the connection is o.k. Another possability is the connecting plug on the side of your throttle. Could also be a jammed butterfly inside the throttle but my guess would be the plug on the throttle pedal.

Dave.

Omega General Help / Re: Crankshaft sensor on a 4 pot.
« on: 16 September 2010, 18:01:27 »
Well thanks for the replies. Just got back from spending 60 notes and getting new crankshaft sensor fitted. Car ran really well....until dash light came on again. Code this time though P1781 which I believe is engine torque signal failure. My car does have auto box. Am I now looking for a wiring fault from gearbox to ECU?

Thanks for the offer Proz, not stopping the engine running at the moment!!! Have ordered a new sensor and might just cry off fitting it myself given my health at the moment. Will see what the local 'proffessionals' will charge me to do the job. Need the car to visit Devon at the end of month. Clotted cream rustle across the wall. ;D ;D ;D

Omega General Help / Crankshaft sensor on a 4 pot.
« on: 15 September 2010, 19:57:38 »
Hi peeps,
How do you get to and change a crankshaft sensor on a 4 pot?  Tried chasing the wire down the side of the block, but it looks as though it hides behind the frame that the power steering pump and ac compressor fits. Do you need to take this piece off?

And yes it does need changing as have code read. :'(

Thanks,

DaveL

Omega General Help / Re: Blocking off EGR Valve...

I'm going to be sealing off my egr valve, some time soon... tin can etc.. question is whether this will increase CO, HC etc. Already trying to get my CO down for 2nd MOT retest and don't want to make it worse.  Should I wait til after MOT?

Have you tried one of the addatives into your petrol, to clean the gunk out of engine combustion? I have had good results with Cataclean and also a Forte product. My ECR was playing up and even cleaning did not cure it. Ended up buying a new ECR from Dealers. Still problems with emissions with mine till I went down the 'chemical' route. Also an Italian tune up did no harm. :y
