yeah stand your ground
Gave a very shy mate of mine the same advice.
He took his girlfiends daughter to a dealer with a knackered fiesta ( she was happy with scrap value) but they tried to see what he would offer.
She had a set budget for a stunning 307 in black that had taken her eye.
They offered £200 P/x Not sure on what she had budget wise.
ut the deal ended, with a wheel arxh scrape being stripped/sanded/painted.
A full valet.
Set of mats.
A full set of alloys off annother car with decent branded rubber
A set of mud flaps
6 months road tax
12 months MOT
and a 3 months mecnical/parts/labour warranty
with 6 months on the body work.
She also ended up with a equivelent of a £550 P/x
The exhaust correded and started to blow on one part so he sorted that by fitting a complete new one. just as the warranty ended.
Excellent deal was done and all partiesseemed happy.
Her Mother was so cheffed with the deal my mate was sent back to do a deal to get her a newer car.
Same sort of deal, just as good a service.
All 3 of them now drive various pugs of 06/07 reg and for once it's nice to hear of a dealer with good after sales back up.
Plus I think they sussed they fiesta was fubar when it was driven in. So my point is, they allways allow a cash / part ex allowance, if they get a good car for what they would have allowed as a discount then they are quids in.
Plus if you remeber the volvo the jeremy clarkson (or whatever the car was) got for a £1Then you do the sums and work out the fiddles. (Now you know why so many cars are being sold by ladies - Dealers wifes Buy for a £1 and sell for a grand))
