Omega General Help / Gearbox fill
« on: 08 July 2015, 15:45:27 »
Right I thought i would check the gearbox fluid and like a numpty i jacked the car up and undid the plug only to get a wash with fluid, Quickly put plug back and tightened it. didnt loose to much. ::)

Came back in and checked the maintenance guide to find that i should of taken the car for a drive and so on. I took it out and about and got it nice and warm (car temp showning just above 80)then came home went through all the gears twice and while it was still running I jacked it up undid the plug and squirted a bit in and no sooner that i did this it spat it straight back out.

Am i doing something wrong or is it just full allready

General Car Chat / dont understand
« on: 06 July 2015, 10:41:32 »
Can somebody explain why.

Mate has a 2004 1.6l petrol focus last week he asked me if i Knew why when he turned his aircon on his car cut out. I told him to pop into kwik fit and get is battery etc checked which he did and all was ok. The following day the car wouldnt start so he called the AA. The AA man said it was the starter motor which he swapped over and now the car and aircon all run fine now.

my question is whats the starter motor got to do with the battery alternator and why would it cause the car to stall

Omega General Help / windscreen jets
« on: 04 July 2015, 11:50:38 »
I thought I had solved my screenwasher problem, when I took out the filter it had what I can only describe as a snot hanging off it. I cleaned this and refilled the bottle and all was good. I went to use this morning and they wont work again. I havnt checked yet but I presume it blocked again. Is there anything I can put in to kill of the bacteria.

What controls the movement of the rev counter is it electrical or wire. I ask because sometimes it jumps of the line and sometimes it doesnt. Dash is seated correctly. Everything else on the dash is fine

« on: 20 June 2015, 15:36:38 »
I nearly fell over laughing this morning. I pop into my local vauxhall dealers to get a price of a new battery and thought I know I will ask if they still do free battery alternator checks.
No sorry sir it will now cost you £88 plus vat.

I walked away laughing ;D
