Had both cars A/C re-gassed at ATS for £57.90 thanks to the link that annihilator posted up in the Best price for air conditioning re-gas thread!  :y

Both chucking out nice cold air and hope it lasts!  ::)  :)  Thanks again to annihilator for sharing the link!  :y

Is that offer still valid? Might take 3.2 tomorrow

Seen it is valid but code, just ring up and book?

Buy the voucher on Groupon then just phone ATS and book it in!  :y

If you go to Groupon via TopCashBack there is 7% cashback available as well, so even cheaper!  ;)

I only realised about the cashback thing after I bought the voucher....  ::)

18 drill bits later (and on top of the 6 I trashed earlier in the week), finally drilled out the sheared exhaust studs with the help of chrisgixer.

I had earlier in the week, after failing to drill, blown a pilot hole through one of them with the plasma cutter.  This had hardened the metal, making it undrillable, so had to open that out further with the plasma cutter.

The Irmscher backbox has slits in the part where it joins to the mid sections (as you'd expect), but these are too long, probably extended by a previous owner to get out an old exhaust, so need to get a bandage around them for now, then find someone who can weld stainless.

Thanks to chrisgixer - those 3 sheared bolts were really an ordeal. Last time I changed the mid sections, I must have used bolts made of diamond ;D

anyone with a Mig will be able to do that for you; standard steel wire and CO2/argon mix works fine for such work.

Measured the temperature of the air con at the vents with an infra red thermometer. It showed 9.5 degrees which I don't think is great.
Will sort out a regas in the not too distant future.

You need to shove a thermometer into the vents.....about 5/6 inches.....its what the aircon guys do....if there any good....a temp of 5 or 6C is deemed fine  :y
I used to have such a thermometer, carnt remember where I got it from tho  :-[

It will most likely be argon CO2 mix.

In other news, gave it away to some passing travellers

Fitted the replacement wiper blades. I suppose £6 every three years isn't too bad.

Did they reject it though?

For someone who doesn't own an Omega, you always seem to have enough of them cluttering up your drive.  Bet the neighbours think you're a proper pikey ;D
