Heaters Now Blowing Cold
« on: 04 January 2009, 21:53:56 »

Hi Guys.

Changed my ECC lamps today thanks to the following thread. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1162120610

The only problem is now my heaters are now blowing cold air (fine before I changed the bulbs), am I missing something not in the thread.  The sampling fan is working fine, all of the lights work fine, but now heater blowing cold even on HI?

Any ideas.

Did heater work before the bulbs where changed? If not, have a search mate. Loads of heater threads at the moment. But are the coolent pipes to bulk head hot, so you can barely touch them? Is the vac pipe connected to the top of the hbv. Does the heater vent reset work/rectifie the problem?

Try the reset anyway.
Press and hold off and auto for 10 seconds or so. You should hear the vents moveing.( May need the ignition on engine off if a facelift)

I wonder if you've pulled the vac control pipe to the HBV off accidentally, or trapped it between something ... if memory serves me  no vac = no heat ... :(

Thanks for the tips guys.  The heaters were working fine before a swapped the 5 bulbs in ecc unit.  I have also noticed that the engine temperature is getting very warm very quickly.

Will any of the above have an effect on this.  Maybe something has come loose or trapped like you have said.  Is the Vac pipe the one that has two wires coming out of it, sits at the front of the ecc unit.

Also tried synchronising the air valve servo motors but this has done nothing.  Do you think its worth stripping it down to make sure nothing is trapped or come off.  Bought a Haynes manual today but that does not give any problem solving.  So I am back to the guys who know.  Sorry :-? :-?

That is the most likely cause.....

Is there two dashes in each temp display when you turn the ignition off?

As above, it means one of the connectors on the back of the climate panel is not plugged in correctly and fault codes are stored  :y

So plug the connector in fully and jobs a good un (fault codes wont clear but the heat will be back)

Champion will give that a go, sharing my car with bloody penguins at the mo as it bloody freezing.

Are the two dashes the fault codes?  (dont mean to sound thick).

The two dashes indicate that a fault code is stored....Tech2 is required to read and clear the codes!

Thanks for that buddy, got a mate who can clear that for me.  Is the car OK to drive though. IE no risk of a fire or something silly like that.  This is my first mig so only just getting to know how it all works.  New lights look good though.................
