Title: Hot summer
Post by: Zirfeld on 22 July 2018, 20:27:33
Wow! this year is outstanding. April was like May, May did a hot June, June did a real good July and July is on the best way to explode somewhere in the record heights.  No moskitos - too dry. July average temperature will reach 20° all over the country. Peek something around 22°C, average, means daily height around 28...30°C all over July so far.  But the biggest heat has not started yet. I think next week we will cross the 35°C line.

Rolf is talking about a German summer!  ::)  :P  ;D

Joking apart though I think the whole of the Northern Hemisphere is enjoying a very good summer.  :y  My friend in Toronto tells me it is unusually hot and dry over there as well.  :)

According to another friend who lives in Tauranga, New Zealand, they had a long hot summer as well.  So not just the Northern Hemisphere.  ;)

Global warming anyone?  :)

I wouldn't mind if it pissed down with rain for a day or so . . . . .  ::)

Garden would get watered, and maybe I could go fishing if the river had some water in it

I got drowned coming back from the pub on Friday, but warm rain with soaked hair and saturated shirt where it was cloud bust rain. Towelled hair and hung up shirt to dry, which it was by the next morning and outside it had all evaporated, so it looked like there had been no rain.

Great to have a proper summer, that looks like it will be the best since 1976. :y :y :y

Where I've had too many wet summers since 2000 with tomato blight killing most of my tomatoes, I haven't grown any for the last 3 years, I wish I was in this one. :-[

This time lastyear we were “ enjoying” 44 degree temps and hot at night too. I saw Japanhadseven consecutive days of 38 . Hard work if you have to go to work.

So far this year , we are having normal temps 35 and a low of 17 ( atabout 7 inthe morning) so it is manageable. Maybe heatcanneither be created or destroyed (likebody fat)just moved around the planet !

I am sitting watching bargain hunt, sweating like a very sweaty person. It's very humid.

I rang two quarter peals yesterday afternoon; when we were finished I looked like I'd had a bath fully clothed.

While the long days are good, I'm looking forward to the comfortable autumn temperatures.

Stop it, Rolf, it's the British that are obsessed with the weather.

Stopped on Butser hill lunchtime vans temp said 28 C
I watched a young family of Kestrels, 4 birds in total thermalling in the southwest facing bowl.  They seem to enjoy making fast close passes to one another  :y

The standing crops have been harvested or have they just failed  :-\
Lots of bunnies running around & I could hear buzzards calling in the distance somewhere.
One or two fields in the valley looked greener, but these are closer to the Farm steads so must be getting watered. I didn`t see one field with cows grazing  ??? nowt to eat I suppose.

Must admit, I do like the "proper" seasons we have had. We had a decent cold winter, with snow and ice, just how it should be. Now we are having a hot summer, much prefer this and just average wet/cloudy/average temp and you don't know if it's summer or not.
