Well, having had an evening of using the new setup, I must confess that I preferred the old setup and layout in just about every way I can think off - when it worked properly that is.I do realise that it wasnt feasible to carry on with the old system though, so theres no choice but to get used to this one.
I hope that doesnt sound ungrateful, its not meant to.I know TB has put a lot of work into getting the new system up and running, and for good reasons - for which I have utmost respect and gratitude.
I preferred the 'look' of the old one, and it had one or 2 unique features that we used to use, which can only be half-arsed implemented on other software.
The fact is, however, YaBB is a dead duck, and we were beyond the limits of its capabilities for about the last year, given the resources we can afford to throw at it. We had one of the largest YaBB sites out there, we understood it well, and how to make it perform (unlike YaBB themselves - see their own forum
on any evening, and how 'well' it runs with a handful of users online). It will take us a while to get up to speed with SMF with regard to understanding it. Apart from a couple of handwritten modifications for
highlight function, its currently pretty bog standard.
