Two months ago my son accidentally pierced the refrigerant pipe in our freezer, causing it to fail. I completed the online claim form, stating clearly the cause of the damage and there ensued a series of delaying, incommunicative emails. My broker could not get them to respond effectively AND FINALLY THEY DISMISSED MY CLAIM, SAYING THAT i WAS NOT COVERED FOR ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE!
Had I been told that such damage was not covered back in August, I would have beeen spared a lot of unwelcome stress and effort, which, given my health issues, I could well have done without.
Just what exactly is covered if not accidental damage? Wear and tear would be excluded also, so that doesn't leave much else!
Once again, an insurance company is happy to collect premiums, but very reluctant to pay out and will try anything  to avoid doing so.

Other than "accidental damage" the major factors covered are fire, theft (ok unlikely for a freezer), and flood. Options for freezers may also include contents under power failure circumstances....... the small print and the premium paid are the indicators of how many circumstances are "covered" ......

An oldie but goodie :).....

WANTED.

A reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of Eddy Current. This unrectified criminal escaped from a Weston primary cell where he had been clamped in ions, awaiting the gauss chamber.

The escape was planned in three phases. First he fused the electrolytes, then he climbed through a grid, and then he finally ran to earth in a nearby magnetic field.

He is charged with the induction of an 18 turn coil named Milli Henry, who was found choked and robbed of valuable joules. He is also charged with driving a DC motor over a Wheatstone bridge and refusing to let the band pass.

He is armed with a carbon rod and is a potential killer. If encountered, he may offer resistance.

He was last seen riding a megacycle, and it's believed he returned ohm via a short circuit. He has been missing since Faraday.

Signed
Lt-Col Coupling

HBV is vac controlled, can't remember which way round .. but I recall having to disconnect the vac line from the HBV and block it with a small screw, leaving the HBV side open to atmosphere, until I changed a vac control valve... but don't recall if that was to get heat or turn off heat !! .... might be worth a fiddle with the vac line .. :)

Most memorable was a long weekend to Alghero, Sardina, last year. Flights £15 or so each.... just a no brainer. Have spent the last few years taking advantage of offers like that, and flying around europe, in the same way I'd take a train up to Birmingham :y

I've never understood why people expect some sort of special treatment just because they are getting on an aeroplane, especially short haul trips that mostly are the same duration as a longish bus or train ride.  :-\

In all parts of the aviation industry the SLF* are the a major pain ... be they ordered to fly or opting to fly ... they are, generically, a total pain......  give me a full freight load any day... it doesn't move, doesn't make stupid requests, doesn't complain, and doesn't, basically, get bored and difficult.

*  SLF  - Self Loading Freight..... also known as "passengers" .....

Sorry for the double post  ::)

Not a problem to me !

Glad to hear a) you are keeping well and active, b) problem is solved quickly and cheaply !!

IMHO with the ages of all the cars we try and keep going, pattern parts are going to become the only option on may occasions !!

If you want a thread regarding Granada restore/modification .. then have a read here .. slightly old now, and goes on a bit (ok .. more than a bit... forever!) but the end result is amazing ...

Whilst not wishing to wish illness onto anyone, regardless of their political views ... I find it somewhat ironic that the professed "most powerful man in the world", (depending on one's point of view of course), who appears to have tried to deny the problem, has been laid low by a microscopic virus ..........

Seems to remind me of the final chapters of H. G. Wells and "War of the Worlds" ...........

Ive only ever owned three cars that cost over a grand.
Im quite proud of that small fact.  :)

Are you proud of the fact you have spent over a grand on a 3 inch long baby tortoise?.... ::)

Tortoise's can live for over a hundred years .... how many modern cars will last even half that ??  Good investment IMHO ...  :)

Omega General Help / Re: Play at steering wheel
« on: 02 October 2020, 13:30:17 »
You can also get excessive play in the steering box, - beyond the "design" play - my old one had an MOT advisory for it some while back .. fix is simple loosen locknut, tighten screw, tighten locknut .. HOWEVER,  DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN as this can cause the steering to lock I was told .. its matter of very small adjustments - 1/16 of a turn - until the play is back in limits. The MOT bible gives the allowed play .. its all to do with marking the steering wheel and inches of movement before the wheels actually move, unfortunately I no longer have a copy ......
