US visa application Q.
« on: 03 June 2022, 02:43:21 »

Has anyone applied for a US Visa with historical driving conviction(s)*?

Did you have to declare them or not? Some sources say traffic related/fixed penalties don't count, but others say they do :-\

Visa application supporting information is a little vague, and nothing in the FAQs about it... Only had one brush with a Magistrate and one FP,  both over ten years ago and no ban or custodial punishment, and have a clean DBS record...

I had a £4 fine for a driving offence in 1958, and have been to the US multiple times on hols and working, I never mentioned it, and am fairly sure I didn’t need to.

Someone in our party when we visited the U.S. in August 2000 had a conviction for criminal damage in July 2000.
They didnt mention it on the form we had to fill in on the plane before landing, and it wasnt picked up when we got there.
Might be tighter post 9/11 though ?

I think you have to surrender all your social media account passwords so they can check for Trump support.  :P  ;D

It's a work visa rather than a holiday one, and airport transfers are provided already :D

Have submitted a Subject Access Request, just to see what's on that, but have a couple of options for the application itself.  :y

Not too concerned in the long run as nothing in the cupboard that starts with 'Criminal'...

I don't think you need to declare Driving convictions.

They mean  Criminal offences you have been Arrested for,,not motoring offences, as nobody would be able to go.

As Jasper Carrot once said when a US cop checked his licence, "Hey, you have been endorsed three times, you must be a good driver!"
