Good luck to you mate, and hope you have a trouble free experiance with your mondie, for all the bad press they get they do make good cars. Dont be a stranger on here though, your knowledge on miggys will always be needed for the future.

My brother has a mondie and as far as i know the only probs that this model suffers are seized rear calipers and rear suspension arm bushes. you will know when they need replacing by a loud knocking.

never actually owned a diesel before, do you change the oil more often or less often than you would with a petrol?  :-/ plus got to get used to driving a manual again lol after 5 years of autos! what was it the instructor used to say? " find the bite find the bite!" :D

Change the oil every 4/5 thou, this will keep the engine in top conditon, you could also change more often if you wish. :y

Hi,

You will find a lot more road noise then the Omega - mainly coming from the rear.

There is also a good Mondeo Forum - & I suggest that you do your research on EGR failure from 60k onwards and also "injector reprogramming".

Good luck

My workmate has got the same model but petrol.
He had a puncture on the front, got the tyre replaced.
Next day the the spring on the strut broke wrecking the new tyre. Garage man we have had quite a few like this, it weakens the spring. He did have it stood overnight with a flat tyre on the car. :(
So beware of this if you get a puncture, get it checked.

I like the diesel Mondeo, supposed to very economical, and good towcars. :y

We had one of them on a 51 plate when it was 6 months old, exactly the same, even the colour but ours was the 2.5 Duratec V6

Lovely car, bit  bland inside but nice and roomy, V6 flew but mpg lower than our 2.6 Omega gives now

Careful with the wheels though, ours started to lose their lacquer after 18 months.......

Well worth a shot, and best of luck
