General Car Chat / Daughters Polo
« on: 26 August 2015, 21:13:03 »
Daughters Polo has failed its MOT big time due to corrosion of inner sills around the seatbelt anchorage points, seems to be beyond economical repair as the quotes obtained are 6-8 hours welding at £50 an hour. As it is a reasonably tidy motor that has been very reliable, rather than just scrap it for £50 (telephone offer from local yard) I'm thinking about sticking it on the bay of fleas as "spares or repairs" in the hope of getting her a few more squids.

To get her tax back and to save on insurance, which was due next month, I have got her to SORN it.

Having never sold a car on fleabay, let alone one without tax/MOT etc, can anyone offer any advice on what to say/do in order to a) maximise the amount raised, b) complete the sale ASAP

Any advice gratefully accepted  :y :y

Omega General Help / ABS & TC lights on
« on: 13 August 2015, 14:29:47 »
Hi all.. on holibobs in French France with very limited wifi and very basic tools !!

Started up three days ago and ABS and TC lights stayed on. Been on permanently for 150 odd miles now but speedo works fine all the time. Fluid level is fine. Fuse 19 is good.

Brakes feel fine under normal use, not tried anything daft. Fuse 19 is listed in the handbook as ABS/TC, is there anything else I can check easily ??

Any advice readily accepted !!

General Discussion Area / More thanks
« on: 21 June 2015, 12:01:47 »
Huge thanks to Daz for coming down from Stoke and doing the cambelt, tensioners, waterpump, aux belt, aux belt tensioner, replacement air con compressor and checking the droplinks, steering idler, TRE's and wishbones for me... not bad for an afternoon's work !!

I did pass the odd spanner to him but the guy is such a perfectionist you can't really help !!

Also thanks to Mark DTM for the compressor that Daz fitted .. boy am I glad I got him to do it !! I'd still be swearing at it I think !!

Just need to regas the air con, new boots on the front and a visit to WIM and mechanically she's ready for France  :y Still things to do on the cosmetic side but that can wait if needs be.

« on: 16 June 2015, 13:52:45 »
Joff very kindly loaned me a bumper as the Irmscher one requires refurbishment/repair, makes the car look a tad odd but it is still driveable ... (and theoretically might go 0.0000000001% faster having a bit of black on it)

Just been down the local shops and I come out to find that some inconsiderate sod has done this ..

The lady in the papershop says it was a man in a white van who got out, looked, then drove away .. she didn't take his number... what ever happened to honesty ?? I now have to pay for two bumpers to be fixed ...   :(  :(

Quick post to express my thanks to

Joff, Essex Big Al & Diamond Black Geezer for all their recent help.

The beast looks a tad odd at the moment but, hopefully, with the help of another forum member that should be sorted in the near future, and with Daz coming down to do the cambelt she should soon be sorted ready for her annual trip to France  :y :y

As title really, a pair would be good but the nearside one is the more important, found to be bodged with tape and jubilee clips ... not leaked for 6 years mind so perhaps not a bad "bodge" .. but needs sorting to "correct"

Paypal/bank transfer/cheque/cash any option available .. you choose :)

Many thanks
