Signs your vehicle may have been owned by a cheapskate fnark with no mechanical sympathy, number 1 :

Grim.  :(

I spent a good minute trying to work out why anyone would coat a small Stilton in milk chocolate. It's been a long day!  ::)

I've just spent a good minute laughing at that  ;D ;D ;D

Yesterday I changed Caravan`s  handbrake assembling kit. On the right side a spring was broken, causing a terrible noise.

By the way I checked the rear brake pipes and my welding work, I did two years ago in the rear arches. I did not found the welding seams, so I must have a look on old pictures where they are exactly. Everything is perfect, no new rust.

Swapped over rear subframe with Mr Gixer, most exercise I've had all year.

1 shower and 1 bath later, still finding bits of rust in various parts of my anatomy.

Thank you to chrisgixer for your help and expertise :)

Mr Gixer is now a rear subframe? He has his uses, I suppose.  ;D

Moin moin

After yesterdays handbrake action my Winter - Caravan is running calm and smooth again.

Today I decided to start the bodywork on the right side. Left side I did two years ago and there is still everything OK.

The right side was never welded before and looks a "little" nasty after 20 years.

Bilder hochladen

Today I checked up the damaged area and made a pattern from a millboard and transfered it with a marker on Omegas rear arche.

direct upload

Over the next week I will produce a zinc coated sheet of metal and weld it in next weekend.

Replaced the front springs with new ones, to match the rears I did last week. The back sits about 15mm higher and the S/L compressor barely cuts in, and the front came up 30mm :o

It now sits level, and actually rides properly, rather than crashing about.

Fitted some of the brake lines (to the kit) and, at the weekend, a friend and I welded the (no longer manufacturered) fuel tank cradle for his 1978 928 back together.

There's no way to learn welding like learning on wafer thin 38 year old steel ;D

Yes, I've a crusty 2.8i Capri tank to sort for a friend's 2.0i project. I'm not looking forward to it.

That nice DTM fella has to fine some solid metal to weld some sills to on the superior Silver Bullet.  I'm sure he will "enjoy" the challenge, along with the hole in the floor that he doesn't know about ;D

I'm sure "enjoyable" was the description he muttered to me, anyway.

Put some smelly liquid into the tank of the Battlebus, it managed a whopping 28mpg from the last tank.  Its all that power it has ;D
