well this sucks, now i will get to use my refuurbished heads i have laying around then :P
Just hope everything is fine with the pistons, i know this engine has lower compression on 1 or 2 cylinders

This engine is a late 97 model from a vauxhall omega (same as 98 model), and yes i picked everything apart and filmed with my phone, witch showed the leak is the headgasket, and not the pipe :-\
Is this a know fault for specific engines?

Well that seems like an alright job  :)
Must I use some gasket sealant aswell as the o-ring when refitting?

Hello all

My car has developed a leak at the rear of the engine, and the only possible culprit i can see is the metal pipe.
I have been able to feel around all the hoses at the rear, and i feel no coolant, and it leaks down on the left side (passanger side for you in UK)
How can this pipe be taken off, is it possible withut removing the engine/gearbox?  :P

Omega General Help / how to fix exhaust leak?
« on: 05 September 2015, 08:33:27 »
I have a big exhaust leak between the cat pipe and the manifold on the left side, not long back I changed the gasket, but soon after it started leaking again.
Should I try fitting a new gasket, and use exhaust paste? (didn't try exhaust paste last time)

Everything else works fine? (except cig lighter, does neither work, including light?)
The interior light runs on 3 fuses it looks like

Is there really NO light from any bulb in the entire compartment or the boot?

The ignition barrel runs a lot more stuff and fuses, than that one solenoid. (so probably has to be 80A to be able to cope with all that's running of it.)
The 80A fuse is not even there on early models (with the rest of the fuses in the engine bay)

Omega General Help / Re: deep rumble from diff at high speed?

Should I then just check the diff fluid and leave it at that, and see if it worsens in the future?  :P
Or would there be play in the bearings if they are on their way?

It was definitely not road noise, and I don't think it was the exhaust either as that was much quieter.
To me there was a drone/rumble sound coming from the center of the car at the rear

Omega General Help / deep rumble from diff at high speed?

Hello

Was in Germany this holiday, and drove 170kph(about 105MPH) on the autobahn and noted a deep rumble coming from what I think was the diff, is this normal?
Car was also shaking pretty good at that speed.

Inlets backwards how?
I don't think you can swap them, but I can check the color code on one of mine if that helps  :)
