She went explained why she is called the Beckenham Dame and the incident in 1960 when her parents were looking at a house to buy in Beckenham, Kent. Apparently neighbours phoned 999 and told the police that a load of black people were in the house and robbing it of all it's fixtures and fittings. That day is the day they decided to buy the house and live there!
In the early twentieth century it was the Northerners being prejudiced against by the Southern 'respectable society', then it was the blacks and now it is the Islamic people undergoing what is actually fear of something others do not understand, in other words ignorance.
