Sensors and wiring??
« on: 03 November 2022, 13:10:34 »

Hello, new here.  I have a 02 MV6 3.2 manual Omega.....its been stood a while. Could use some help as in which sensor is located at bottom of the engine at the front. Looks to screw into the bottom of either sump or front cover at an angle and is visible to left of crank pulley and between alternator?....I fitted a brand new starter motor  a while ago now but car wont start and there is wiring broken between this sensor and what looks to be a wiring protector cover that clips to a bracket next to the crank pulley. need to know what this sensor is but also can the wiring be ordered as a small loom as this appears to be the problem stopping the car running which was always 100 per cent reliable. From 1st impressions where located i would have said is the crank sensor but from what i have read that would actually locate elsewhere on the engine so anyone can help with the info i would appreciate. Thanks.

That's the oil pressure sensor.

Presumably the car is ex police?

OK, Thanks. Yes car is ex police. When you say about the fuel pump, do you mean may have shut itself down as a safeguard due to oil pressure wiring broken/engine management system thinking no oil pressure? Or because vehicle has been stood? Do you know if the section  of wiring can be bought as a small loom or will it be better to repair if possible. Only want to have it running to enable moving the car from where it sits. Thanks.

I mean seized up ;)

Fuel pumps don't like sitting, especially if filled with modern fuels.

Wiring can largely be repaired easily enough.
