I'm quite happy with my SKY+ box, but they keep contacting me to 'upgrade' to SKY Q

I was, but after hearing the benefits, I changed to Sky Q

Can record 3 channels at the same time  - so they told me.
Search facillies are better. etc.

If you lose the remote you can press a button on the box and the remote will buzz.  (used that facility a few times)

A lot better box all round. :y

It never belongs to us as the old boxes did.
Cant use the old box as a 2nd unit  so I was told.

I got it dor £20 a month so no complaints from me. :y

I have trouble finding one channel that's worth watching, never mind recording.
Search facilities? Easy, even on sky+ box
I don't lose my remote and, if I do, I have two more  ;D

I've finally convinced SWMBO to let me "upgrade" to no longer paying uncle Rupert any of my money. :y

Yes, sadly, SKY Q never implemented the ability to stream if the signal was lost, which is why I ditched SKY years ago, large trees use to block the signal as soon as they had leaves on them.
Yes, I can see that being a problem, seeing as you live in the middle of the countryside...   ...oh, hang on a minute ;D.

I guess when the estate was built, they were all little trees, but now 30+ years on, mighty oaks trees have grown all around?

Sky-Q is really a rehash of the old Sky+ system, and a bit of a bastard child really.  In my experience, Sky+ mostly just worked, and when it didn't, it was usually a buggered box, or a dish/signal issue.  Sky-Q seems to be a badly engineered system and designed without any thought to common scenarios like the internet being down.

I know which I'd have, if it weren't for the fact that I gave up Sky when I decided it was taking my 30 mins to flick through all the channels to realise it was all shite, compared to Freeview's 5 minutes...

The only issue with YouTube is the fees for going ad free. Especially when the various content creators are having to promote something in the course of what they're doing...

No, there are a *LOT* of issues with YouTube, which is why its mostly full of shite, lies and click bait. And causing outrage generates the most views, which increases income for the content creators.

I say that as a content creator myself.

I follow 20 something channels, and basically ignore the rest. And if those that I do follow post something that I have no interest in watching, Chinesey E bike reviews for example or click baity shorts, then I simply skip them.

I have to be a bit careful with the work stuff that I post, and I notice that the crew channels I did follow have effectively been deleted.

Sky pester us too,
I'm not interested in Sky Q
we've got various "TV screens" dotted about the bunker ,all with "TV LINK magic eye" to view any "Sky shyte" plus freeview and NOW TV for streaming.

Sky Q requires extra charges for each "box"  :o ££££  :o

Not quite, it's the trees that line the redway next to the canal.  They planted the wrong type of poplar and they are massive! Rupert wouldn't entertain the idea of putting a second satellite up on the other side, miserable bastard!
