...but it's not an Omega.
I've bought this Vauxhall Vectra 2.5 V6 Super Touring from my local Vauxhall breaker, along with all the bits to fix it up. Now I just need to get my hands dirty and actually fix it  

Day of purchase (still at the breaker's)-




The Omega acted as both tow car (could hardly tell it was towing ) and load carrier-



So first things first, unload and see what we've got-



Then get the tools out, and decide what to do first-



Remove front panel, and radiator (leaky)-




Remove bonnet-



Spot the difference in length lol-



Fit new radiator, bonnet and front panel-



And now give it a bloody good clean, because these wheels are actually white under all that grime-




I'll try and keep this updated as we make progress with Project Vectra.

Will look good when its done. Nice to see it being put back on the road instead of being broken up well done mate. Look forward to seeing pics when its done.

They only made 500 Supertourings- 250 2.0ltr and 250 2.5ltr.
It's not one of the rarer ST200s though (unfortunately lol). Still, it should be a bit of fun while I keep it, which might not be long as I'm already considering what to get next

In a very brief nutshell

The ST200 was a very limited edition Vectra Saloon (38 made, incl 1 prototype powder blue estate, there was never an ST200 hatchback)

MSD took the standard 2.5ltr V6 fitted 308mm front discs, chucked some Omega 3ltr cams in the engine, tweaked the suspension (adjustable shocks IIRC), added Recaro seats, 17" speedline alloys in white (16" were a no cost option at the time) and hey presto the ST200 was born. Its called the ST200 because it produces 200ps (197bhp)or there abouts.

The engine IS NOT re-mapped its only the cams from an Omega that give the performance increase  hence why most Vectra owners want 3ltr cams

i dont think VX would fit 3.0 cams and then map the car for 2.5 cams, that wouldnt make much sense

ECU was not remapped, had many discussions on this over the years (I've had three Vectra's).

The ST's proved to VX management that there was room for a performance model above the SRi (which was nothing more than a badge engineered GLS with different wheels / trim at the time 95-98.5), MSD then developed the upgraded SRi's (which gave the Vectra the much needed chassis improvements) and slotted in the GSi above it from experience gained on the ST's.

Incidently.... Those white Supertouring alloys are as rare as rocking horse s***!

Well it was the case, it was technically Swindon Race engineering that did the development work on the engine, MSD just prepared the road cars, and it ONLY uses the X30XE inlet cams with the 2.5V6 exhaust cams, it was NOT re-mapped due to cost, reliability and strict emission controls.

It was made as a road going version of the Vectra SRi V6 challange car that was a support for the BTCC at the time.

And the last one, no.38, was badged as no.50 because there was supposed to be 50 made

Once that projects finished it'l b well worth it thats one rare vectra!

So Mr Salmon, does your supertouring have the same engine as the ST200 and is the 2.0 Supertouring any good then?
