Very nice great colour 👍

Thanks....I don't like all the tech with just about everything running on apps linked to my phone and touch screen. Nothing is simple these days.

However, she is great to drive and pretty quick considering she weighs 1700KG, and has a relatively small engine.

The beaver tooth grille is somewhat understated on that model, which is a good thing. Very nice, Opti.  :y

Yes...the 'beaver tooth' look is an acquired taste, usually by those not blessed with the gift of sight. ::)

No keyless entry, that is part of the £1300 comfort pack which I declined.

No gear stick either, replaced by a  clitoral alloy nub.

No spare wheel, no jack either, but not to worry because it comes with a can of foam that will do SFA. ;D

This one is all paw drive.....although I'm told that the power goes mainly to the rear unless needed at the front for extra traction/grip. :)

How does it compare to your Jag ? Any regrets?

Well...

It's a humble 2 series so it doesn't have the presence or charisma of the Jag. It does sound great though despite it being powered by a 3 litre straight six turbo rather than a 5 litre V8 with a supercharger.

It's exceptionally  well put together but then so was my XFR from 2015.....a far cry from the Jags of the sixties and seventies when they were thrown together by a communist workforce. ::)

Performance is much the same despite being 125 BHP short because it is small (er) and weighs  a whole Hayabusa less.

I like it. :y

I think the B58 lump is preferable to the S58 lump found in  the M3 and M4.
https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/Themes/core/images/bbc/shadow.gif
Being single turbo rather then twin turbo it has less power and torque. Peak torque however is delivered at a 'dieselesque' 1900 RPM so in the real world (at sane speeds, TB.) it feels more muscular.

The gearbox is a ZF8 torque converter unit, so about as good as it gets.  :y

They are a great drivers car, no looker (but then BMW have really lost their way on this in the last 10+years) and I bloody hate the way car manufacturers are stacking displays like monitors on a work bench in the interior (But I guess even we will go that way potentially at some point).

Hopefully a good realiable fun car !

The straight six BMW was always the best they did  :y

That was pretty much my thoughts when I looked at the interior pic, but I guess when your sat in the drivers seat you're looking at a nice big spread out display, rather than peering into a little binnacle.  :-\

The 'curved screen technology' looks like it has just been plonked there without any thought about making it appear integrated. Not quite as bad when you are sitting behind it though.

I really don't like the display and all the wanky apps but as Mark says this is the direction we are heading. It comes from the milk float BMW's. :-\

The speedo and rev counter are difficult to read at a glance, and in comfort and eco mode are virtually unreadable.

It is good to drive though and surprisingly quick. :y

I found a 10KG bag of white powder in the boot which adds to the weight and slows the car down.

No idea what it was. :)

Its not, the big issue is the ADAS systems are resulting in the need for a stack of legal and driver assist views which means you either need a huge quantity of telltails or use an LCD (or OLED for the future models).

What I don't like is the lack of attempt to even make it look like its part of the IP  :-\

Plenty of old duffers in much more powerful cars, Porsches and the like, driving around. These cars remind them of the cars they coveted when they were younger, but couldn't afford.
Not many of them go for models that smell of guacamole though.  ;D

It was an identical burrito bus, even on a 23 plate. Must be the new way to waste their pension pot, instead of buying wobble boxes or Motor-knomes.

Now then Tigger and BG..... would an old duffer drive a 3 litre turbo petrol coupe from Mexico. ;D ;D

No....he'd drive a derv Mundano with a tranny lump, or similar. :D >:D
Plenty of old duffers in much more powerful cars, Porsches and the like,
And then drive them round at 20 MPH below the speed limit ,slowing everyone down  :(

When I bought it, swmbos comment was "Im not getting in it. Its your mid life crisis and Im having nothing to do with it".  ;D
Had to collect her from hospital one night a few months later and took the Boxster, so she had to get in it.
Her comment then " its like being sat in an old Morris Minor".  ;D

Due to creaks & rattles I think, which is to be expected from an old convertible I suppose.
Apparently if I were to spend £1000 on the parts and refresh the suspension there would be less creaks & rattles, but that aint gonna happen.  :)

Now did I see His lordship, trying to reverse the Burrito bus into a space in Huntingdon multi-strory today..

Not unless Huntington is in Wales, land of the sheep worrier.  ;D

Well the old duffer, was driving a Burrito bus identical to yours, colour as well, and the lady in the passenger seat was waving her arms around.

Lord Opti has a doppleganger?  ::)                                                                                                                           ;D

I did assume it was his Lordship, taking the lady about to show her the rougher parts of the world, after it was nearly planted into the front of my mighty Vivaro, the lady started to shout at said old type person who was trying to make the Burrito bus go in a rearward directions, then decided he couldn't and drove off, to find an easier space..
