Omega General Help / Omega Dti quandry
« on: 14 December 2011, 21:46:51 »
Hi Everyone, the headgasket has gone on my 2.2dti and possibly the mains bearings.   Do I scrap the car or replace the engine?  I've spent a fortune on her this year already.   Just when I got the car right the fan belt tensioner failed and the belt popped off and to cut a long story short the damage was done.   The car has done 140,000 miles and has been a brill car over the last 9 years.   To compound my decision I am getting a company car in February so will I be throwing good money away repairing a depreciated asset?    Any advice will, as always, be appreciated.

Omega General Help / 2.2dti fan belt
« on: 04 December 2011, 21:41:24 »
The fan belt has come off on my 2.2 dti and I need a diagram of how it goes round the pulleys so I can put it back on.   Does anyone have a diagram or photo that could help me?

General Discussion Area / Multicar insurance
« on: 23 October 2011, 22:28:10 »
I want to insure a second car alongside my trusty 2.2dti.  I have a full no-claim bonus which is used on the Omega and makes my premium just under £300.   I want to insure a little MX-5 and thought that on a multi-car policy I would be able to put the two cars on one policy and apply my no-claim bonus to both cars - especially as I will be driving one or the other, not both at the same time.   All the online sites want me to insure one of the cars with full ncb and the other with no ncb making the 2nd car's insurance too expensive.   Any oofers have any suggestions on how to insure the second car cheaply?

Omega General Help / Omega 2.2 Dti P1125(3) Fault code
« on: 10 February 2011, 15:06:29 »
Hi I wonder if anyone can advise on this one.

My 2.2 Dti was in the garage for springs, wishbones discs and brakes last week.   While it was in I asked them to change the engine oil and filter.

I am now suffering from the following problem.   The car souinds a bit roughh when idling and when you rev the engine there is a "piston slap" noise.   When driving the engine doesn't pull like it should and if you rev near 4000rpm the eml comes on and the car goes into limp home mode.

I have read the fault code and P1125(3) Critical Malfunction shows up.

I have cleaned the air flow sensor in case it was that.

Does anyone have anmy ideas - are there any vac pipes near the oil filter that the mechanic could have disturbed when he changed the filter.   The car was running superb before the oil change.

« on: 13 November 2010, 15:40:36 »
Do any oofers know of a "reliable" place in or near Glasgow that can do proper geometric checks/four wheel tracking.   I have been to Quack F*t in Paisley and F*rmers in Hillington both of whom have "corrected" each others settings and whose work fubarred my track rod ends and tyres.   I have fitted new tie rods and tyyres and need my tracking etc doing properly - surely in a city the size of Glasgow there is someone who can do the job!!!

Omega General Help / Locking Wheel Bolts
« on: 02 February 2010, 18:18:33 »
This topic has probably been discussed before but I have the cakecutter type locking wheel nuts and my key has sheared and I don't have the code.   I tried my local dealer and he did not have my pattern amongst his stock of keys and I have tried McGard in Germany who said my bolts are not made by them.  Apart from trying to chisel them off and damage my wheels does anyone know either who made these locking bolts so I can try and get a replacement key or is there an easier way to get the bolts off?

Omega General Help / dti fault code help
« on: 28 November 2009, 15:28:47 »
had a new power steering pipe fitted yesterday which involved taking off a lot of the pipework at the front of the engine, went out today and as soon as I got to 50mph the eml came on.   When I got home I plugged in my tech2 lead and got "P1125 (3) critical system malfinction refer to checking procedure trouble code description" - does anyone know what this means and could it have anything to do with one of the pipes not being fitted back properly so there is an air leak or something?

Omega General Help / power steering problem
« on: 22 November 2009, 19:40:54 »
One of the pipes that runs down the side of the radiator just behind the grill has just sprung a leak.  Does anyone have the part number or even the part and are there any fitting tips as I can't see where it goes properly.

Omega General Help / Crankshaft pulley
« on: 02 April 2009, 21:01:54 »
Got into the car today, 2.2dti, started the engine and heard something drop, then no power steering.  I looked under the bonnet and the drive belt was lying loose and the belt drive aon the crankshaft pulley had dropped off.  Anyone had any experience of this - is it a big job? are the pulleys easy to get/expensive?
Only good thing is it happened while stationary - that steering sure is heavy with no power!!!

Was out in my 2002 2.2dti and put my foot on brakes when stationary, the pedal went slowly to floor - felt like a seal had suddenly gone.   Has anyone else had this and can give me some pointers for a quick/economic fix?

I've finally suused out how to bridge the wiring to get the driver's memory seat to work in my CDX.   Didn't realise how easy it was from reading various posts but then I found a post with a photo of the control box and which wires to bridge - only 3 thin ones - one black and one red to live and one brown to earth - these are in the second plug from the left on the control box in the same plug as the thick red live and thick brown earth - I just connected into these and hey presto - working controls and memory buttons!!!!   Anyone needing more help please pm me

Omega General Help / eml light on a dti???
« on: 08 December 2008, 23:58:35 »
I had just completed a 200 mile journey on the motorway and as I came off the slip road my eml came on and the power dropped off considerably ("limp home mode????). Anyway I stopped the car as soon as I could and switched off the ignition, I then restarted the engine and the eml light went out straight away and the engine drove normally.  I drive a 52 plate 2.2 dti with 86000 miles on the clock - has anyone got any ideas what this could be????

Omega General Help / resetting error warnings
« on: 21 November 2008, 14:34:47 »
I have 2 warings showing on the computer on my 2002 2.2dti.

The first is low beam/fld vision - I have replaced the sensors on the wishbones front and rear but the warning is still there.

The second is that after replacing my battery the low coolant warning appeared even though there is plenty of coolant in the header tank.

Does anyone know if these warnings need to be reset by tech2 and if they do is there anyone reasonably priced in the Manchester area to do this.
