The article suggests there was medical issues. Although I'd be proud if I could J turn like that.

It's not that unusual, although six hits is towards the top end!
This is one of many reasons old people shouldn't drive automatics, as every one of the multiple crashes I went to was an auto. These were usually hit something in one direction, then slam it into reverse/forwards and smash something else. I saw several where the old dear had done this before; one of them was a courtesy car from a similar incident!
My 'favourite' was one Sunday afternoon, when I had to recover one that had punched out the wall under the garage window, then gone backwards out of the garage, down the drive, across the road, down another drive, through a hedge, across the lawn and into the swimming pool.

At least they had cleared some sort of access path :D

I bet he's insured at my place!
I deal with them quite often.
Elderly.... Auto.... Give it time!! ::)

Further demonstrating that old gits should be forced to use the bus. ;D

Been two or three up here over the past few years, all automatics and all Volvos for some reason, one I had seen in town a few times and never parked near it because the only panel that wasn't damaged was the roof, plus I had witnessed his attempts at parking it on several occasions.

Reminds me of the liability who did for our local chip shop a few years back. ::)

Interesting; ours had a similar incident, although the 'driver' also managed to get the car up the triple kerb that is outside.

That one got through a row of wooden bollards about the same diameter as a telephone pole. :o
The parking area is about 3 car lengths wide, so there wasn't much room for a decent run at it either. Got to admire the dedication. ;D

Interesting. We will all be old gits one day (with luck)
It is time the UK adopted some form of 5 yearly testing. In Spain for example, from and including 65 you have a medical test and physical test of your reactions ( It is like an arcade game). You pay about £40 for the process. If you fail, you cannot drive. In the Uk it is very hard to get someone stopped from driving. I know as went through it with my dad earlier this year. The useless gits at DVLA also lost my original POA too.
Still doesn't preclude a new medical condition e.g. a fit or heart attack.

Fortunately, we're no longer in the EU so we will miss out on biannual MoTs as well ;D

I'm a firm believer that every motorist should have a 'safety check' drive every 10 years and every 5 years over a certain age. I'm not talking full driving test, just enough to make sure they aren't a liability.

Are you fit to drive? Yes
Is your eyesight ok? Yes
Here's a driving license for you. Thanks.

The only time I've had a near miss in an auto was when I borrowed a friends Granada who is an amputee, the accelerator was on the left & the brake pedal on the right, when I started it up it started to creep forward so put my foot on where the brake pedal should have been of course it shot forward towards a lamp post just missing it, however I soon got used to driving it.
