Omega General Help / Re: Strange oil drips

Need to check more closely for perishing etc but on first inspection the jubilee clip at the bottom end of the rubber hose was not tight, could move it with my fingers! Now tightened and 'splash zone' cleaned so lets see if the problem is sorted.  :-\

Sounds like a sensible first step.
Have found a guide on the forum, written by johnnycboy, for removing pump if necessary, without taking off the aircon compressor which is what the Haynes manual tells you is needed!

Have investigated further I now believe that the oil is ATF from the steering pump as it appears to have a slight red tinge to it. All I need to do now is to find out which part is leaking!  :(
Can the power steering pump be removed without having to first remove the aircon compressor?

Had the aircon serviced and regassed after replacing a leaking pipe two years ago, dye was put in according to the sticker in the engine bay so it should be green.

Oil and filter changed recently, no spillage at all (a bit OCD!), wondered if it could be a leak from the base of the dipstick tube, don't think it is from where the filler neck joins the cam cover although I will certainly check. Just felt too thin to be engine oil but I could be wrong.

Will continue to investigate.  :-\

This is neither, it is clear.

That thought had crossed my mind as well. The aircon is nice and cold so it appears to be working (at the moment!). I am trying to identify where the drips are coming from so that I can tell what the fluid is and what is leaking.

02 2.6 Elite. Having given the engine and the plastic undercover a clean recently I am puzzled to see a dribble and a few spots of what appears to be a clean light grade oil on the top lip of the sump edge and the plastic undercover just below the aircon compressor. I have cleaned it off once but it has reappeared.

I don't think that it is engine oil as it is too clean (even though I have just done an oil change) and it doesn't feel thick enough.

Any ideas?

Omega General Help / V6 Cambelt replaced
« on: 02 May 2015, 12:14:39 »
Just had Daz (Darth Loo Knee) through to replace the belt, water pump etc on my 2.6 Elite. Seen him work before but still very impressed with his knowledge and skill, he is one of only a couple of guys I would trust with my Miggie. Car now running as sweet as can be. If you need a top mechanic Daz is your man! :y

Bought from new, has not seen a lot of use as I bought a larger caravan and a Kia Sorento to tow it (also fitted the same make of tow bar to this one!).
When the swan neck is detached there is nothing to show that a tow bar is fitted so it doesn't affect the looks of the car.
No wiring or relays included but these kits are readily available.
£70 collection only. Please PM me for pics.  :)

Omega General Help / Re: Heated leather seat

I am pretty good with spanners and most things practical, I can even sew!! I am a little nervous of messing with the airbags built into the seats and of getting the leather off and not being able to get it back on!

Omega General Help / Heated leather seat
« on: 24 February 2014, 00:00:32 »
The heated seat element in my driver's seat packed up a while ago and I would like to get it fixed. Does anyone know of anywhere reliable in the north of England where I could get this done?

Omega General Help / Re: Coolant Drip - Help - UPDATE - Pics now !
« on: 22 October 2013, 21:15:00 »
Not sure if you have got this sorted but I have just had similar on my 2.6, thought it was the notorious hbv at first so bought one (GM) and swapped it, but still leaking. As it was also time to do the cam covers and breathers I took the opportunity to try to locate the leak, appeared to be from the metal coolant transfer pipe which has a 40mm o ring as it enters the back of the block, a small amount of coolant was dribbling out, onto the bell housing and running down the passenger side. Impossible to find unless the plenum, injector rail etc are removed, even then it was a nightmare of a job! Only way to see it was laid on engine with a torch and a mirror!! Happy days.  ;)

Omega General Help / Auto box reluctant to engage
« on: 08 July 2013, 09:17:57 »
When my 02 2.6 Elite has been sat on the drive for a couple of days, it starts fine, put it into drive to move off but the gearbox doesn't appear to engage until I gently rev the engine. I am looking to do a fluid and filter change next month, in the meantime anyone have any suggestions? Once it engages the box operates fine, no thumping and no warning symbol on the dash.

Having been let down by TWO forum members who stated they wanted this but then stopped responding to pm's this tow bar is still for sale!  >:(

Bought new 2 years ago, only used on my Elite for one season, now towing with a Sorento. Excellent condition, all parts present including original receipt. Totally invisible when tow ball is removed. A quality piece of kit, so impressed I bought another for the Sorento. £100 wanted but open to sensible offers.
