General Car Chat / It was worth it
« on: 22 November 2013, 18:10:54 »
V6 Thermostat change, after much F-------- + blinding got it done :o even managed to some how magically to lose the plug and its little loom for the Idle speed adjuster under Plenum >:( that engine bay ???  breath, hold and Exxxhale. Thank God I took off the Plenum again a further check with Mr Led Lenser revealed a Leaf sitting on the valves and yes I used kitchen roll at all stages. but credit to engine, only 11 of the 12 sandwich plate bolts are torqued, 1 is knackered and it still runs sweet :y

General Car Chat / Diy or not
« on: 03 November 2013, 16:38:16 »
2 weeks ago I replaced the thermostat :'( in process of re assembly, 1 of the sandwich plate bolts decided to strip itself >:( and before anyone says "The what Plate" its the plastic divider plate between cylinder heads and intake manifold held in place by 12 bolts, or in my case 11 ???.
Is the helicoil really a Diy affair, as Ive checked out The U Tube video and it looks involved, Poxy Bolt  >:( >:( Ps the Mig is running like a bucket of spanners.

Omega General Help / Not Good.
« on: 26 October 2013, 18:33:00 »
Where do I start >:( Thermo stat on a v6 a complete pain, putting it mildly. Job a bit of disaster really, 1 of the sandwich plate bolts would not tighten, feels like its stripped >:(. B Bolt well  that engine bracket dropped out, could not get it back in and can see it acts as spacer for that dam bolt, in the end  managed to get the poxy bolt in but only tightened finger tight. Enough damage for one day :-X It started no problem, but I wont be driving it
